I hope that some common-sensical judge or jury will throw out this case. What the mother did was disgusting and reprehensible, but she didn't kill Megan. How about holding Megan's parents responsible for letting their daughter have an online relationship with a stranger? How about the understanding that if some stranger's comment on the internet could drive her to suicide, maybe she had a few bigger problems than this mother? I hope that a jury will see through this.
Yeah - why make her take any responsibilty for her actions - some people are more sensitive than others, sure she probably had more problems, who doesn't? But that doesn't change what this BI**TCH did. She should be made an example!

Just to follow up, and again to clarify my statement -- i'm not taking up for Lori Drew here. What she did was wrong.
That said, there is often a HUGE difference between what is morally wrong and what is illegal. I believe Ms. Drew did not break any laws, no matter how disgusting her behavior was. I also hope that a judge and jury will see things the same way even though she is not a very easy defendant to sympathize with.
People should stop making these emotional arguments and try to view the situation objectively in light of the current laws.
Legality comes from morality - this is the issue, if it is not illegal - it SHOULD be and I believe it is. Just as inciting a riot is illegal and free speech is not a defense.

ANd lastly, you can not "make" someone commit suicide. Only the person can choose to end their lives, so I def do not think she should be charged with homicide in any way, shape, or form.
Oh - but you can help.

I really do feel bad for Megan's parents, but I also agree that if she could commit suicide over someone she never met, she had way bigger problems. Yes, Lori should not have done what she did, but I think even most kids that age, while they would have gotten upset about that, would not go and kill themselves.
