Review: Angry Tomato

This place just plain SUCKS!!!

I've eaten at the Angry Tomato twice - both times in August - and really enjoyed the food, the wait staff and the atmosphere. It's not typical Tex-Mex, and thank goodness for that, but perhaps John from Ridgefield has a less, um, refined palette? The name refers to its mixture of both Mexican and Italian cuisine but my friends and I only tried the Mexican dishes. We found them delicious with freshly prepared ingredients, imaginative combinations and good sized portions. This place has replaced Sam Diego's (in Hyannis) as our favorite got-to-have-it Mexican restaurant.

We were on our Cape Cod vacation and looking for a great place to eat. We decided to try the Angry Tomato and absolutely fell in love with this place, the food was great, portions were large and the staff was very friendly and helpful. We are going back to the Cape in September and really looking forward to eating at the Angry Tomato...

I also think if the owners of a restaurant don't like what people are saying about the food and atmosphere then change it don't try to insult them by writing a review and trying to act like you are someone else.

My Pallet is very refined and the food is very under par and the decor is very tackey.

Well, I don't know what all the fuss is about. I like the food. It's fun food. I should know, I'm the fiance of the chef-owner, Larry B., and I taste tested most of the dishes before they even opened their doors for business. I put on 25 extra pounds I'm still trying to work off in the process.

John L.- simply saying "it sucks" says nothing, other than you're in a really foul mood. Alice H.- it's a nice review but a spell check might be nice so people like Marsha M. won't try to discredit your experience because {heaven forbid} you're not an English professor. Neil K.- thanks for warming our hearts. We're really trying to make lasting friends... we'll see you in September {the nicer time of the year}. And Marsha - if you want the Ritz Carlton, pay the money and go there! I can't stand people who make half-baked accusations simply because the whole of the earth doesn't happen to agree with you!

We really don't mind critisism. We're new and we use the critques as a means to figure out what we need to work on, but from the two who thought they posted critism, I got nothing from them to work with.

Marsha, Didn't you notice that your IP address was traced? Or did you just think the website magically guessed the town and state you came from? The majority of websites do this to prevent people from pretending to be other people. I'm not mad. I'm just giving you a head's up on the subject. Peace.

WARNING !!! DO NOT get a job there. The owner is a flake !! He will hire you then give you the run around on how he is broke,.... He will schedule you for work, then when you show up, there is no certainty that you will work that day, or at all. And if you do work, he may not have the money to pay you. Most times the owner is drinking all of the bottled Budwieser up,( whilst bitching about the lack of business, He is just one big drama.), or in the office getting stoned with His girlfriend,.. as well as the rest of the staff,( if He has no money then how is it that He can afford to procure marijaunna I ask you?!). There is no sanitation in the kitchen, the place is a rat trap, grease all over the place, rotten or old food laying about. No covers on the food stations, the waitress station, where the salads are made is a joke ! Every one in the kitchen smokes,TRASH EVERYWHERE, and they DO NOT WASH THIER HANDS !!! Friend of mine worked there, and was let go, as well as He was not given all of his last pay, which was a paltry amount of $37.50.--- The owner came up with a really ignorant reason for not paying as well as He was physically threatening & verbally assaulted him. The owner was reported to the Wellfleet police in regards to his actions, as well as a report was filled out.
YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED ! The best thing would be for the owner of The Angry Tomato is to leave the Cape, and go to Florida, as He has stated so many times because He feels that most people on the Cape are idiots,and not worth the effort or the time,( His words ).

This is one very colorful nut-case who did work at the restaurant, but there's quite a story there. He went on Craig's List to give Raves about the place as a "promo" but he flipped out when someone who didn't like the restaurant suggested he was gay. His post was so horrifying it was deleted by the Craigs List staff and he, needless to say, was fired from the restaurant when he showed up for work. We've called the Wellfleet PD who claim they have no idea what he's talking about. He never filed a report about the $37.50 he was complaining about - but he owes a bit more than that for tearing up the drive way.

Personally, I like color... and I'm happy to report that we're not the only people on the planet he "goes off" on. He's just the town's resident fire-works display. If you have a couple of hours to sift through his posts (they're user ID specific), you won't be bored.
