I've been performing a piano recital/storytelling program on six women composers of the 19th century (now evolved into a dramatic one-woman show in first person); people ask me which women composers: Clara Schumann, and Clara Schumann, and Clara Schumann? Many are surprised to learn that Chaminade was a woman. Good for you for writing the article, promoting the recital and symposium about black women composers, and offering speculation on why women composers have been overlooked in performance and publications.
