The Maritime Museum is the best public attraction you have in Welaka. To top it all off its free. That property should certainly by exempted on real estate taxes. The museum is providing a service to Welaka and not being provided a service by Welaka.

I think the city needs to open its eyes up immediately before its gone.

This museum is a real treasure. These folks have developed a uniquely new and diffrent method of marine construction to create stunningly beautiful reproductions of historic boat types as well as restorations. I have urged friends to go out of there way to see it. The town should definitely nurture this place.

I have been in the marine industry for all of my sixty years. I have built many boats. I have never seen this method of boat building before. I think this is one of the best kept secrets of Florida. I have encouraged others to visit this museum. I will go back, there is no way to take it all in with just one visit.
