Why is it even a debate if harrisburg has offered us the best idea ive heard of yet this far. Harrisburg has offered to let us join there school and still keep our entire school k-12 as long as our fiancial status wasnt in jeopardy. Valley view is to high socitey for our kids and that will never work, they think they are better than everyone else. They really need a reality check, but thats a whole new discussion.

This is ridiculous. Valley View kids are just like kids everywhere else. There are cliques and organizations and some kids will be in them and some won't. Just let the kids do their thing and stop telling them they aren't good enough to go to a school because that school is too high society for them.

You girls both have good points. Harrisburg is just as good a school as V V. If not mabey a little better. They're both considered country schools. But V V comes under the heading of Jonesboro. If per chance they did shut the Weiner school down for good them Hbg. would be the much better option for Weiner. Lots less time on the buses. It would still be in Poinsett County. You all have a lot to consider while you are fighting for the school. Looks at Grubbs. A new school and all of a sudden it's bam closed. That could happen in Weiner. I am a product of both the Weiner and Harrisburg School. Both have good scholastic values and good teachers. You'd best think hard and long before making a decesion. After the way the kids talked about Harrisburg over at Weiner I am supprised the board would even offer Weiner the option.

I'm pretty sure that the school board isn't going to turn Weiner students away on the basis that the kids were being mouthy. There tends to be that kind of rivalry between schools wherever you go.

If the parents would keep their mouths shut, I think the kids will be fine anywhere they go.

The important thing here should be getting the kids a quality education. Rumors and class-levels shouldn't figure into the decision at all.

i am not sayin valley view isnt a good school, educational wise but the students there have already spoke about how they feel about the whole idea of us joining their school. They are totally against it. They stated that our kids were just a bunch of redneck hicks and a few other choice words including how our students would never be excepted socially in there school. Kids make it hard on other kids in schools these days, apparently afew of u really dont have a clue how hard it can be to deal with.

School is the same now as it's always been. Who cares what the kids at Valley View are saying??? What you're talking about is ignorant talk from a bunch of KIDS. It's time the ADULTS take charge of this situation. This situation isn't going to be easy no matter where these kids go. It's stupid to think that every kid at Valley View is going to give the Weiner kids a hard time. If it's a good, quality school, then that should be the end of it. Get these kids a good education!!! It doesn't help matters at all for your kids that you back up the opinions of some mouthy children at V.V. Step up and be an adult about this and worry about your children's education.

Maybe a chance of our school going with Cross County. Have heard good things about them. There will be hard feelings anywhere we go. Afraid there is fixing to be a lot of home schooling going on. Some children will get a good education that way, but a lot will not. Social and athletic skills will be gone down the tubes. There is a place in hell for these politicians that are ruining good peoples lives. All we have heard is about the obesity of young kids. Most won't have time to exercise because they will be on busses for hours. Then they will have to eat, study, bath, and go to bed. What is wrong with these idiots in office? They wonder why we have such a high drop out rate. Well just wait and see what happens now. If they make it through graduation, they will be so sick of school they won't think of going to college.

Apparently you don't remember just how cruel kids can be. The "ADULTS" that you want to "take charge" of the situation are not the ones that will have to deal with the fact that they aren't wanted there, day in and day out. I don't think the animosity that the merger will cause can in any way promote a healthy learning environment.

You're just being overly sensitive about something that doesn't require it. Kids are highly adaptive. I remember quite clearly how kids act in school. There's going to be conflict no matter what the situation. It's just something that has to be dealt with by the students AND the parents. But the ADULTS still have to be the adults in the situation. Life isn't always cushy and comfortable and this can be a learning situation for everyone. The kids aren't going to be comfortable no matter where they are sent, but the adults don't need to take a "the sky is falling" attitude that causes the kids even more panic. Telling your kids that they aren't good enough to go to Valley View is going to do a heck of a lot more damage than anything the kids at Valley View can do.

Sounds to me we are out of options. I just hope Harrisburg will take us. Instead of being at the mercy of the state.
