WCHS football field lights

I just don't understand why the BOE won't help with getting lights for the high school football field. I bet if they wanted to go party somewhere and stay in Charleston or send more of their teachers for a week long trip to Floriday, they would find the money. Come on people, if they don't get the money for new lights, the football games will have to be held at Glade or Webster Springs, or no home games at all. This is not fair to our youth and to the players that try so hard to have a team.

The boosters have the money for the lights & poles. Where did all of the money go that they collected from the basketball season when nobody could get in to the gym because it was packed? What about the concession monies that were made?

The BOE is strapped for cash as it is. It is time for the people to step up and do some work to raise the money. Otherwise your low taxes are going to have to go up to pay for the repairs and upgrades our schools need.

Another thing that should be done is that JV football play on friday nights and Varsity play on Saturday. The will alleviate our children from being out until 2:00am during a school night. This should be for all sports during the season. There is no excuse that this is going on. Whoever makes the sports schedule is a huge idiot.....They are not thinking about the students for sure!

this person must be the typical topix tard in regards to friday night scheduling
it has always (with few exceptions) been high school football on friday evenings ACROSS THE ENTIRE STATE, not just webster
and for good reason
college games are on saturdays and high school does not want to conflict with college games, that way both get a chance to have fans--there would be a lot less folks at saturday high school games because a lot of folks will be watching college live or on tv
the person who suggested kids are out until 2:00 a.m. must be talking about their own out of control kids, because most high school games end around 9:30 and most kids, except the out of control ones, are back at home by 11; get a life and complain about something that really matters

I knew they was asking for donations for lights at the baseball field (which is way overdue) but I guess I missed where there wanting money for the football field!

Where did you get your facts from? I lived and grew up in areas where varsity football was played every saturday. The JV played on friday afternoon. You have no clue what your talking about. People that attend high school games do not go to collegiate games obviously. Neither high school nor collegiate sporting events would be affected.

The issue here is lights for Webster's field.

I will agree the schedule needs to be fixed for all sporting events in this State. There is no reason for a student to be out on a school night and get home at midnight. I do know that students have gotten home after midnight this past year due to poor scheduling.

Get off planet pluto and come up to the year 2012.....Otherwise get your facts straight before you type.
