Interpretation of facts way off the mark, but even if they were correct...we are now going to vote for incumbents because they decide to restore busing? Guess what, folks. They knew that stimulus money was coming their way PRIOR to the May busing hostage election. DDN also endored Rhine McLin and said the new Mayor-Elect didn't have a chance. That didn't work too well for them either!

Interesting instead of teaching to the Ohio State test Now all schools in Ohio have to meet a National standard - Until they the Crib notes on the new standards - Boro's test scores will drop like a stone - I wonder if Cliff has the yellow books already to mail out yet???

I think we need to get ready for the first Board meeting with the new members. We need a strong showing and we also need to make sure that the newly elected don't just fall into the same bobble-headed rut that all the others are in. Does anyone know when the first meeting is, and if the agenda will be available in advance?

First agenda item should be stopping "Pick-up" of retirement. Based on the September check register, the school is paying employee shares of $8,438.58. 8,438.58 X 26 =$219,403.08. Gosh, wouldn't that cover bussing?

Since it is legal for double dipping in the state, what would be wrong if we did not offer it. No law says we have to. Other states such as Illinois have banned double dipping. You can make the argument that experience is valuable but if that experience is krap to begin with then it's not worth keeping around.

I don't understand the "double dipping" argument. You'd still have to pay a superintendent salary and the retirement does not come from your school district, its something the employee earned and is theirs from all their years of service. We are former military and get a retirement pension, yet also have went back into the workforce and earn a living--so we are "double dippers" by that logic. I am just not getting why its such a big deal.
As for the board schedule its on the Springboro Schools website.

I am just not getting why its such a big deal. As for the board schedule its on the Springboro Schools website. I wasn't talking about double dipping. I was talking about the School District paying for the EMPLOYEE SHARE of SERS and STRS in addition to the EMPLOYER SHARE. It adds up to quite a bit of money. It would be like your employer paying for your Social Security deduction. In Ohio, the school employees have their own pension funds (SERS and STRS)and don't pay into social security. And Springboro pays this "pick-up" for a lot of employees, almost all of the Administrative Staff and then some of the "head" teachers. Double dipping is a separate problem. Teachers and administrators retire, then come back and get paid both a retirement and a salary. Sure, you pay them a lower salary than before, but it is still more than you would pay for a new or newer teacher or administrator. This limits the job opportunities for the next generation of teachers and administrators.

Baker is getting close to 200k a year. 600 for the contract. He IMHO is not doing a good job and is getting little respect from the community and district employees. He did get an unfavorable review 2 contracts ago. I would much rather get fresher talent. He was given a new contract before his old one was up. After 3 levy failures they rehired him. That is what I don't understand.

Anything in the register that would break it down by individual? This needs to be addressed more.

Very interesting the troll find open direct communication between the elected officials and the voters as clueless?? Maybe the trolls find the action "school bus" comment as clueless - and indirectly I do the same as the BOE has historically used this action as a whipping boy against the voters/parents to get what and when they want. Or finally the trolls are just a bunch of Lemmings that agree with TOUPEE governmental control.
