Is it really true that there is only 234 people living in Clarksville now? I left Clarksville in 1963. What happened?

Still interested in communicating with someone -- anyone -- from Clarksville, PA. Also a town nearby like Fredricktown, Marianna or any nearby town that knows about Clarksville. Hoping to hear from someone.

Hello, my name is Nicolas Faieta. I currently reside in Fredericktown, or what is now placed on my letters, Millsboro. Clarksville directly boreders Millsboro so I am pretty close. Clarksville from what I've seen is now a rundown town. Driving through you can easily see this. The houses are in ilrepair, the streets mismanaged, and etc. Clarksville is defineatly not somewhere I would want to live. I had worked for Penndot last summer, for their college internship program, and we did some road repairs in Clarksville. From my eyes it seems like a very poor area and only getting worse. I hope this can help. faietan@duq.edu

When I was about 7 I remember the Clarksville area as being a fairly decent place to live. The two creeks that are there ran clear and had fish in them. I lived on a small farm just outside of Clarksville and the countryside was beautiful. But all too soon the land changed due to the coal mines. The creeks ran orange from the sulphur being pumped into them killing the fish. Dumping of trash occured everywhere. After I left acres of land were strip mined. I felt very sad when I returned home to visit. The beauty was gone.

Havent't been back there in years. Think it was around 1986 when I was up there last. I live in Texas now and have been here since 1968. I graduated from Jefferson High School in '56. We lived on the edge of town on the way up to GI Town. Would like to talk about Clarksville and the people. Maybe someone I used to know is still there.

I live in Clarksville and I feel that it is a very good place to live. You can Big game and small game hunt fish to to a bar and church and shop at grocery store and do not need a car. The scenery is beautiful and wild game abundant. the weather is not extreme no hurricanes or tornadoes not to hot or cold. this is the place you should consider to live.

Uhm, Having recently graduated from JM and knowing many people from Clarksville I would like to say one thing. It's worse than Mather. Seriously. It's were all the local druggies are any more. It's great if you like ghost towns... However, I plan on going to college and only visiting Greene County for the holidays.

Mea, My Dad was from Clarksville. I haven't been there in about 8 years. My Father went to Jefferson as well and was the class of 58, His name was John Trout. My grandparents owned the town store Brichetti & Trout that was right across the street from the firehall. Also, my Dad and Grandfather were founding members of the original firehouse there. I am now 35 and in Colorado. Did you know my Father or grandparents? I'd like to chat with you. My Dad died in 1992 at the age of 53 from a heart attack and now both of my grandparents are also gone. If you are familiar with them, please shoot me an email at buffettgeek@msn.com.

I currently live in clarksville and to hear people put it down really upsets me. We are a SMALL town so all the 'faults' are easily seen... there are faults everywhere. We have great fishing, a couple small stores, park, seniors center. I would say the only thing we in clarksville need would be something for the teens to keep busy.... but like I said that is EVERYWHERE. Personally I love our small town and wouldn't trade it for anything...

I am from Marianna and also there in 1963. I was shocked to see how low the population is. Last time I was in Marianna was about 1967 and I got a police escort out of town. I graduated in 1966 and I was 18yo at the time. I went in the service in 1967and I haven't been to Marianna since. Been home to Clarksville quite a few times though. If I see a reply here from you, I will send you an e-lail if you wish
