I JUST WANTED TO LET OTHER PEOPLE KNOW WHAT HAPPENED TO ME TODAY SO THAT YOU DON'T GET SUCKERED IN AS I DID. ABOUT 4 YEARS AGO I SIGNED UP FOR THE DVD "RIP-OFF" AND RECIEVED MY FIRST SHIPMENT. I THEN WAITED PATIENTLY FOR MY NEXT AD PACKAGE. AFTER 2 MONTHS I TRIED TO CONTACT BMG ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS TO FULFIL MY CONTRACT JUST WANTING THE PROMISED MAILINGS SO AS TO MAKE MY CHOICES.THEY NEVER DID THIS."BREACH OF CONTRACT" I WAS EVEN TOLD ON ONE OCCASION THAT MY ACCOUNT DID NOT EXIST!! WELL GUESS WHAT I GOT TODAY? A COLLECTION NOTICE FROM SOME SERVICE THAT CLAIMS I OWE $46.00.IT'S NOT WORTH TAKING TO COURT SO I PAID IT BUT JUST BE FAIR WORNED CUZ THEY WON'T RETURN YOUR CALLS OR EMAILS!!!!!!!!!

We never signed up for Columbia House and Nationwide Collections sent a notice for $41.88. I told them that we didn't owe it. The rep said,"I'm sorry there's nothing we can do about it. If you need to know the charge's details you will have to call Columbia House." There is NO PHONE NUMBER on the CH website. I had to google for the numbers and then if you put the account number from the collection letter in it says that you have to call Nationwide for further assistance." I tried playing around with the phone menu trying to talk to anybody. I never could get to a real person. I'm mailing a letter of dispute via certified mail to Nationwide Collections.

I never signed up for columbia House either and Nationwide Collections sent a notice for 71.58. I told them I didn't owe as well, because I had no knowledge of what they were talking about and also sent a certified letter requesting further information. No info was ever furnished to me. So, I contacted Columbia House and they could not find the account I was referring to and said that due to the circumstances they would notify the collection agency to cease all billings. I feel like this is a scam to get money!!! Now they are threatening to take me to court and I have no idea what this is about. Anyone else have problems with this collection agency or Columbia House? Please post a message, so others won't be sucked in by this non sense.

I actually contacted Columbia House thru email regarding a letter I got from Nationwide. I was told I didnt owe them any money, so I tried to call nationwide and can never get thru! They have called me late at night, and when I try to answer to resolve the matter, it is an automated service that tells me their office is closed and to try again during their regular business hours. Has anyone else had these problems with nationwide? I am beginning to think this is all a scam!

I just recieved a letter in the mail too that says I owe $122.71 to Columbia House. I do not recall any such thing. I have also tried to contact them and its just a busy signal. I ALSO called late last night and the recording said for me to call during regular business hours. I'm at a loss.

I just received the same letter from Nationwide Collections, and I sent them a fax stating that I never opened an account from Columbia House and that if they can't provide me with sufficient proof of doing so, then I will consider the matter closed. My suggestion would be to call your Attorney General and the Better Business Bureau and make a formal complaint. If it is a scam, you can then sue the company for fraud.

I just received the same thing! It's a collections letter from Nationwide Collections Agency on behalf of Columbia House stating that I owe them $85.00!! I don't even have a Columbia House account! Has anyone been able to get this resolved? There's nothing on the letter even stating what the charges are for! If I find anything out, I'll post it... good luck all!!

Today, I received the same thing in the mail from Nationwide Collections on behalf of Columbia House stating I owe them $106. I have never in my life ordered anything from Columbia House. I honestly think this is is a complete scam and that each of us should contact the better business bureau. I noticed on the letter they sent me at the bottom there are a few odd things in the pay section. 1.) It says the charges on your card for payment will appear as P&J DCS. I find that very odd since the collection company is Nationwide Collections. 2.) It asks for your CCV# on your credit card. I have never seen this on any sort of bill asking for a CCV# in the mail. 3.) It states on the bottom just take this letter, with $106 in cash to any Wal-Mart and pay through MoneyGram. Very odd that they would recommend making your payment through Wal-Mart.

I honestly feel this is a completel scam. It is also very hard to get a hold of anyone at Nationwide Collections, Inc. When I tried to call today it said you have notified the administration office. It doesn't state hi you have reached Nationwide Collections, Inc or the name of the collections company. Also, I tried to contact Columbia House and all the numbers I found are disconnected. This is extremely odd!

I received a letter from Nationwide Collection on June 5th, stating I owe them now $24.95. In the letter, they say that I have 30 days to write them and dispute this, after that they will take steps to collect payment. I was also puzzled by payment options offered in the letter.

The next week, I received a second letter, telling me that since I didn't respond, they will take steps to collect.

I called Columbia House to check on the account, but I cannot get to a live customer service person. Emailed them 2 weeks ago, no answer.

I am certain this is a scam. What steps is anyone taking?

Did the poster who sent a letter of dispute to Nationwide Collection heard from them again?

I also just received a letter saying I owe $98.95. Is this a scam? Seems like alot of people are receiving these letters. What should I do? I'm thinking of just paying it since I am in the process of applying for a home loan and dont want my credit score getting affected- totally confused

I actually DID open an account with Columbia House...7 years ago. I havent heard boo from them in 7 years and today got the same letter that everyone else is getting for $98.85.

I also am interested in hearing about any resolutions to this issue.$100.00 is a lot of money for me and I dont want to just give it away.

I just received the same letter as all of you. This is the second one i received. I thought it was a scam from the beginning. Not sure what to do but i called Nationwide and it went straight to voicemail asking me to leave a message. Yeah, i'm sure they will call me back. I am not paying them a dollar.

I just received the same letter in the amount of $79.08. I too have never ordered from BMG or Columbia House. Additionally, I keep getting directed to the same voicemail of someone name Cathy at extension 241. I think this whole thing is a scam.

Has anyone tried to pull their credit report to see if this is on there?

I also received one of these letters the other day. They claim I owe $59.31. I recently had an account with BMG, but didn't owe anything. I contacted Columbia House (who Nationwide says I owe), and they told me to check with BMG.

This thing is a scam. Seems there's one big circle-jerk whenever you try to get any pertinent info. One says to go to the other.

Nationwide is being sued in a class-action suit in Pennsylvania for unfair collection tactics, if that suggests anything ;).
