Cops pissing people off.

I can see this happening.
A cop pulls over a male driver and does a 10-27 (license check). He also does a 10-27 on his wife sitting next to him (she's just a passenger-not driving).
Next he does a check on the three children in the back seat ages 6,8 and 10. The children are terrified at this stranger who is making them feel like criminals and start crying.
At this point, the male driver pulls a gun out of his vest pocket and blows the cop's brains out.
And there are now brains and bone all over the freeway, all caught on the cop's dashcam.
I think its only a matter of time.

Are you over age 12? If you are an adult you have issues that should be dealt with in a mental institution. When did you start seeing this occur?

Why did the cop run a license check on his wife even though she was not driving? And what was the purpose of checking the children? Sounds like an invasion of privacy to me.

Read the original post more carefully. The poster is making up a hypothetical situation. Obviously has some kind of problem with the police...

Police officers do check the licenses of all occupants in a stop sometimes. It's per their discretion: sometimes they want to know if there is anyone in the car that may be dangerous. Little kids? Not so much. But if it's a car load of 20- somethings they will check for warrants. They also check for licensed drivers in a DUI case- sometimes they will let someone sober drive the car home in the case that an arrest is made. Usually it all depends on how you act to the officer when he stops you. If you are polite and don't bullshit him, he usually won't hassle your occupants in return. Just sayin'....

99 times out of a hundred the cop checks the papers of all in the car. And about 98 times out of a hundred the 10-29 comes up negative.

Sometimes the cop will read the SSN of someone over the air. I'm sure the identity thieves appreciate this. Seems all that you should be required to produce is what the State issued you.

As I recall, they Social Security Administration has issued a statement that the SSN is to be used for taxpayer purposes ONLY.

Now who gets stopped the most? Blacks think its them. Actually, white women get stopped the most.

For someone that is portraying to know what police officers due, you really don't have a clue do you. I would like to know where your statistics come from, because I am positive (10 year police veteran) that they are not accurate. Why would the police officer run 3 children that have no possible ways or means to have a license and are too young to be charged with a crime, so they won't be wanted. Perhaps next time before you spew your anti-police agenda, please have a clue about the topic.

i asgree with scannerlistener. if you look in the blotter of the cartersville paper you will see that it's mostly whites. also, if you look through the busted paper that they sell now you will see that white arrests outnumber blacks and hispanics by almost three to one.so no, blacks don't get arrested more.

Scanner Listener, you need a hobby. Maybe the officer just got a look out for a man who kidnapped a woman and her children driving that type of car. If that was your wife and kids, would you want the officer to check their identity? I'm pretty sure you would. I've been doing this for 11 years and I have never run children through GCIC/NCIC unless I thought there may be an issue such as the above mentioned.

And I am so proud you know a radio code. A "29" is incorrect though. A warrant is a "10-29." And we don't check "papers" and this is not Nazi Germany.
