I am planning to be in Wanchese for the summer, maybe longer. Coming from Durham, I am used to high crime and think that Wanchese must be much better than what I am used to from the criminal element. Can anyone enlighten me on the crime in Wanchese ? Anything I need to be aware of ?

Yes, they have their families and drinking buddies. Drifter fisherman that hit the dock and get drunk.

Nothing major. Just like any other community, but at a smaller scale. Just be picky, you'll be fine. More good people than not.

Any parts of the town that I shouldn't venture into unknowingly ? I'm a single female, but older.....

Wanchese is fine. The Fishermans do not just hit the docks and get drunk. They have familys to go tend to. You will be fine.
