No. If I have to pass a drug test to work, then anyone getting benefits should have to pass to spend my tax money.

Honestly, I think welfare needs reformed and there be term limits on its use.

Wow I worded this horribly, so let me try again:

There already is "term limits" on cash assistance, 36 months (3 years) for life.

There's a reason it has never passed and will never pass.

It costs more to run tests than the amount of money saved by catching drug users and denying their assistance. Many states have tried it before and they all end up losing money.

If mandatory drug testing did pass and stay required long term, you're looking at even more tax hikes for the clean and sober folk. No one will vote for it if it raises taxes.

Until some breakthrough comes along making testing cheaper, it will never happen. It's not that hard to understand.

You and alot of people are missing the point, if a person cannot pass a drug screen they wont get a job.

You miss the point! The Employer pays for the drug test at job sites. The TAXPAYER pays for the drug test for welfare recips.

Welfare reform, drug testing, gay marriage, gun control, liberal, conservative , religious beliefs, all are used by the government to keep people occupied while politicians are actually stealing you blind. The government looses more money in one day to wall street bankers than it does to welfare in one year, but what are you all arguing about???? Just a thought.

Where is the gripe button? I want to hit it. Taxpayers will pay taxes whether they like it or not so quit your sniveling and drag your wallet out. Some people would gripe if their ice cream was cold.

You're missing the point, it may cost "more" (you say in theory) for drug testing but you also have to look at the long term costs such as rehab and other health related costs if they're not drug tested and continue to abuse drugs.

. This is the smartest thing said.. Our government is weakening our country with all this assistance it's nothing but a cruch... Making us as a nation weak... It's simple it's called evolution.. U know survival of the fittest but it's no longer the case in this country it's survival for everyone.. We no longer weed out the weak.. Which is a scary thing.. If all these deadbeat parents would watch there children go hungry they might get off there lazy asses and provide for there own... If not well thats when the survival of the fittest goes to work... Just be another weak family nobody would have to worry about.. A man used to provide and have pride in working to feed his family... Not anymore its all very sad.... The American dream is dying thanks to this wel fare state
