Emmitt House

Um...I went by the Emmitt House last night and it said it's closed until further notice? Anyone know why?

It's been coming for a long time.

Sad, when Charly ran it was a top notch restaurant.

I heard it's been losing money for awhile now, but I also heard it has been sold. Don't really know.

Oh I thought it might have something to do with the health dept. I haven't eaten there in a while so you never know...

It has been sold to someone who works there for about 950,000. They live in lucasville....atleast that is what i heard from someone who works there...

I think it would be cool if they actually restored the Emmitt House to it's original state when Emmitt opened it up...have hotel rooms in it and whatnot...

i heard someone who worked there bought it too.

that sounds like a realy cool idea...have like ghost tours and stuff too...

Yeah Kitty - have something similar to what Chillicothe has for their spirit tour of Crosskeys Tavern and The Majestic Theatre. I went to that last year and lemme tell you - it was intense. The Emmitt House is creepy too, especially if you're there at night.

Did not sell.

Idk, everyone was saying their different reasons why it's not open, just thought I'd throw mine out there :p

How do you know that and what did happen then?

From several former employees: All were told in a mandatory staff meeting Sunday they no longer had jobs, without warning, after they were promised by this "supposed buyer/current waitress" they would be kept on and get raises. Sale basically never was/could happen for this person. Now, a major loan is unpaid and many food vendors are trying to get their tens of thousands owed to them. This has been coming down the pipe for a while; very apparent to those who frequented the place, but not the many young adults who worked there and now are part of the Pike unemployment statistics.

Drugs and alcohol will get the best of everybody!!!!

Yep, so will ALOT of bad habits.
I think when Dakota's opened it might have hurt their business. Smoking ban didn't help either. Also the economy hasn't helped any of the small businesses.
