why in the world does goodwill charge out the butt for there stuff. i thought they were for the poor people to help them out. i recently went in there and bought a coat wich had a price of 3 dollars iwas like cool took it to the counter they said oh ripped the price off of it and charged me double.they said it had been in a yard sale well dammit i should of gotten itfor that price.goodwill isn't interested in the poor.they r only interested in profit.i think this sucks.goodwill should be ashamed.they get stuff for free from people than turn around and sell it twice as much. thsat doesn't sound like theirdoing goodwill.

SO WHY IN THE HELL DO PEOPLE SEE THIS ABOUT OLE GOODWILL AND GO SOMEWHERE ELSE? ALSO THE WORKERS THAT WORK THERE IN WAVERY R RUDE.THY R THERE WORKING OFF THERE WELFARE AND GET THE PICK OF STUFF AND GET TO TAKE THINGS HOME TO THEIR FAMILYS.WHY DON'T POOR PEOPLE GET TO GO AND PICK OUT STUFF FET THEIR FAMILY AND TAKE IT ON OUTA THERE FO FREE LIKE THE WORKERS.THE WORKERS ARE SNOBBY RUDE BITCHES WHO DON'T NEED EMPLOYMENT THEIR.I JUST TINK ITSTERRIBLE THAT THEY CHARGE OUTRAGEOUS PRICES THAT THEY GET FOR FREE.ALSO THE DUMPSTER BESID GOODWILL GETS TONS OF STUFF THROWN N THERE AND THEY LOCK THE DAMN THING SO NOBODY WILL GET INTO IT AND GET THINGS FROM THERE FOR FREE.THATS LOW AS LOW CAN BE ITS LIKE RESTAURANTS THROWING OU FOOD WHEN OUR COMMUNITY HAS STARVING PEOPLE. I WISH GOD WOULD INTERVENE AND STOP THIS TERRIBLE GREED FROM GOODWILL AND REASTAURANTS.

The people working there always seem very friendly to me...And I think they lock the dumpsters to keep people from dumping their own trash in there, not to keep their trash safe from theives... |
||||
Don't steal names. Its worse than stealing trash, man. |

If I'm not mistaken, they don't sell that to the poor, they sell that stuff and then help the less fortunate with the money they make from it.

WELL I HOPE UR CORRECT. I HOPE THEY SELL THE STUFF AND HELP PEOPLE WHO R LESS FORTUNATE.BUT EVERYTIME I'VE NEEDED THEIR HELP THEY WERE ALWAYS OUT OF FUNDS.I DON'T THINK THEY WOULD HELP UNLESS IT WOULD BENEFIT THEM OR THEIR STORE.THATS THE WAY PEOPLE R ALL OVER THE WORLD AND COMPANY'S JUST TRYIN TO MAKE A BUCK.I'VE NEVER SEEN THEM PUT THEIR MONEY MADE TO USE TO HELP THE POOR. THEY COULD AT LEAST GIVE THE STUFF TO THE LESS FORTUNATE.IF IT WASN'T SUPPOSED TO BE ABOUT MONEY.IF THEY WERE CONCERNED ABOUT THE LESS FORTUNATE THEY WOULDN'T HAVE A PRICE TAG WITH IT.MONEY SHOULD BE OF NO CONCERN TO THEM.IT SHOULD JUST BE A GOODWILL CLOSET AND HELP PEOPLE FOR FREE INSTEAD OF CHARGING FOR THEIR STUFF THEY GOT FOR FREE!

Goodwill is actually a non-profit company, so all the proceeds from the store sales go to helping others, not to make the company rich.

1 Another thing that erks me is if they get a "name" brand article, they charge more for it. A shirt is a shirt, and they should all be the same price. |

the workers there DO get first pick of what comes in...one of them in another county gave my cousin a ton of clothes out of there when she needed them for a job.
i don't think anyone in there is particularly friendly, so i go to the salvation army on western avenue on wednesdays..most stuff is half-price |

I've bought from Goodwill for over ten years. I have never seen them charge more for 'name-brand' items. In fact, I purchased a brand new 'London Fog' heavy wool overcoat a couple of years ago for only $5.00 - it still had the manufacturer's tags on it! They have payrolls to meet, utilities and rent to pay, as well as administrative overhead - how do they pay that if they give everything away? I've bought working electronics (printers, monitors, radios, etc.) for as little as 50 cents. The stuff they throw away is usually broken, too dirty to clean, or too worn and ragged to sell. The people working there are good people and have always been friendly when not having to deal with people complaining about the dumpster being locked. Get real!

I'm thankful I don't have a load of pent up anger at the goodwill because they won't let me rummage through their dumpsters at night stealing dirty old broken things. Also I'm thankful for lots of other things, but this one seems to fall in line with the thinking of this topic. |
