Now that Issue 3 has passed, is anyone but me angry at the tactics the opposition is taking to delay the creation of construction and casino jobs? It was reported this morning that legislators plan to introduce a bill to put another issue on the May ballot to increase casino taxes and allow competitive bidding for the casino licenses. While this may result in more money for the state of Ohio ultimately, it is going to delay any preparations for the design and building of the casinos for a year or more, because how can a company that has already invested $35 million into passing this issue move forward with plans to build with this lingering doubt of them possibly not being allowed to even build? I can also understand amending the issue down the road to increase the tax when the casinos prove to be profitable. However, delaying the developers now is not helping the Ohio economy and the most important reason that most people voted for this issue: jobs.

I think the opposition is mainly looking out for state in the long run, rather than a quick-fix thing. They're trying to prevent this from becoming a monopoly (which is rarely good) and give a bigger chunk of the $$$ to Ohio. That 35 million is pocket change to the casino owners anyways.

I have had mixed feelings on this issue due to having a loved one with gambling addiction. This person has never stepped one foot inside a casino and has managed to lose thousands and thousands of dollars. Betting on ballgames, horses, playing the lottery, etc. My conclusion is that if someone wants to gamble they can do it just as easily from home as they can in a casino. So if the casinos provide revenue for the state and jobs for the people in Ohio then why not.

Daily Horoscope for December 8

Aquarius

This is a good day for getting on with chores and mundane tasks. You'd much rather get them out of the way than have them hanging over you for any longer than necessary. What's more, you don't want to waste your time by doing things in the wrong order or by being so slapdash that you have to do something a second time. You're setting a terrific example right now!
