We're wondering how the Lady Huskies cheerleading organization is getting away with entering events under the name of Village of Waverly recreation? There is no Waverly Rec cheerleading above 6th grade (according to the Village), yet this organization has girls from all over the place up to ages 18 and they don't cheer for anyone! They also are using the name of Tri County Recreation to enter and as we all know in the Valley, there is no such program. They're raising money under both these names and there's no accounting for the money. So, whos gonna be responsible when something happens when they're using the Village name and also that Tri County Name. It's also being said they don't have insurance and one girl got hurt and her parents had to pay all the bills. Will someone pay attention to what these people are doing? It goes beyond that cheerleading stuff.

Oh Wow.... I thought that they cheered for Waverly Rec. My daughter wanted to cheer for the Huskies this year, I told her maybe next year. But, if there's this kind of problems maybe I should think twice. Somebody clear this up....do they actually cheer for anybody? And most importantly - do they have insurance? Anybody know who to get ahold of to get more information? Who's in charge of Wavery Recreation stuff?

The Lady Huskies cheerleading team consists of an amazing group of children and adults. I am the mother of a handicapped child. The Huskies have taken her in and paid for every single thing for her, including fees, uniforms, shoes, etc. Although she participates in the fundraising activities, she is not REQUIRED to do so. They took her in with no hesitation and made her feel like part of the family. That's more than I can say for many organizatons in the Valley.

I have two children and a niece involved in the Huskies program and and completely happy with their amazing progress and success. Never have we ever taken the Waverly Rec name and used it to raise money for our team. We don't cheer for a team because we are a competition level team and do just that! Compete at competition level! We are very aware that there is risk of injury involved and realize that we would pay for medical bills if any even though they do have insurance! My children are involved in many valley and school activities and those organizations would not pay for a child's medical bills if they were hurt during one of those games or activities. We fundraise and compete as the Lady Huskies not Waverly Rec!

I do not understand how people have to thrive off attention. The Huskies Organization does not discriminate against anyone. They accept girls who cannot pay for cheerleading which many cheerleading organizations will not do, and the Huskies help them pay their way and do not expect anything back except for hard work and dedication. They take these kids off the street away from trouble and then get bashed for something not relevant to anything. I find it sad that adults have to get on the internet and posts things about the Huskies and cannot say anything to any of the people who run it. They do not go under the Waverly Rec name nor the name of the Tri County Recreation. As for the insurance thing no organization would pay for an injury. Why do you think when a child does a sport in school or out of it that the coaches make sure they sign a weaver form. You compete at your own risk. Please do not go by these negative comments being said, because they are not true. If real information is wanted please can contact The Huskie organization directly.

That makes me feel better, but question - aren't you suppose to cheer to be a recreation team? Are you from Waverly or what is tri county? Sorry to be dumb but when my daughter's friend talked her into doing it - I guess I didn't understand what it really is. I've never heard of tri county rec, it is from the valley? What is the difference between Huskies and Tri County rec and Wavery rec? Who can I get ahold of to ask these questions? My daughter is very interested but doesn't want to cheer only to compete. She's 12 years old and wants to learn.

I am A VERY PROUD PARENT OF A HUSKIES CHEERLEADER! I KNOW that we have an awesome, honest organization. The coaches go above and beyond what coaches are supposed to do. We are a competition team competing at a competition level. I have never seen where this team uses the Waverly Rec name. WE CHEER FOR THE TRICOUNTY HUSKIES! WE DO CHEER FOR SOMEONE! I AM VERY PROUD TO BE PART OF SUCH AN AWESOME ORGANIZATION!!! THANK YOU TO ALL OF THE COACHES AND PARENTS THAT MAKE IT HAPPEN FOR ALL OF THE GIRLS!!!!

I am amazed that someone from Armonk, NY has any clue as to what the Huskies Cheerleading group is about. I am a mother of a Huskies Cheerleader and am very proud to have my daughter be a part of this organization. I suggest that this person and anyone with these negative, derogatory and slandering thoughts should contact someone in the Huskies organization to find out the truth. I am happy to say that everyone involved in this organization is legitimate, and I know that for a fact. People do not organize such a sports group (with such a high potential of injury)without the appropriate legal necessities. By the way, to the originator of Huskies slandering news, thank you for the advertisement.I'm sure you have perked peoples interest. GO HUSKIES

this is in reply to the concern nut case about the huskies cheerleadings and wanting to know why or how they get away with everything...go get a life..these girls and coaches put tons of there free time and energy into this and help the girls learn to compete at a super level and be mature about it..they learn team work they see that adults can be role models in a positive way..and learn to set goals and what it takes to reach them and if not at least they gave it all they had..and learn from this...so would you rather have these girls hanging out on a corner..with the wrong crowd..and so on..sounds like a sour grape, who just needs to vent at someone, because there life is so uneventful!!!!!!!!!.go huskie cheerleaders..we got your back!!!!!!!!!

Just want to say thanks to all the parents here on the forum for
supporting the team. Let me start by saying that if anyone has any questions regarding the team feel free to contact me personally at runnin12s@stny. rr.com Let me address all concerns as well as possible. First off, we have never nor do we ever plan on associating ourselves with Waverly Recreation. We are our own entity that was formed to offer affordable cheer for youth in our valley that has grown to outside communities as well. Tricounty came about because when I was setting up the yahoo group name huskies cheerleading was already taken so I added tricountyhuskies to signify the three counties that our kids come from. Insurance?, of course we have insurance to cover ourselves as well as the landowners that so graciously allow us to use their facilities, but in the reference to the athlete that was injured? There was in fact a waiver signed and the athlete as well as the parents were fully aware of the danger that was associated with our programs. Now finances, we do in fact have a treasurer that keeps track of every dollar that comes into the organization as well as the 100% of those funds that go back out for goods and services of the kids and young adults that participate with our group. As far as cheering for someone? We have in the past cheered at recreation basketball games, but not associating ourselves with just one school district had eliminated us from eligability of such events so as of now we are in the works of cheering for another independent recreational organization. As far as our problems going beyond the cheerleading stuff? well what are the problems, I feel that the parents that have posted above speak for our organization, again thanks parents for all your support. Now back to the task at hand for me Let's go out and win Nationals Go Huskies By the way isn't it something that everyone roots for the underdog till the underdog comes out on top for a while then everyone is out to cut them down and wait for the next underdog to overcome them? |

As far as nationals, I think we are good and gosh darn ready!!!!!!!!!

Candor youth cheer here. Sounds like there's a problem. If you are competing as rec, you HAVE to cheer for a recreational program, you can't go solo. So, if you're not cheering for anyone and going to competitions, you are entering these competitions illegally and that's cheating. It's not fair for all other rec teams to have to cheer at games and stuff, while you guys just practice and compete. From the sounds of it, it seems like you've been doing this for a while, so I'm sure your coaches know what they're doing (shame on them). This is why cheerleading has such a poor reputation! Also, what is the Tri County rec? There is no Tri County Rec in your area, so you can't be competing under that name, as no such rec organization exists. If you have any questions, you should look at the rules -- 100% you CANNOT compete as a rec team unless you CHEER for a organized sport for a specific recreational organization. That's what all star cheer is for. In all star, you don't cheer for anyone, you just practice and compete, like what you say you're doing now. I'm gonna have to look and see if you guys competed against us in the last few years. I'm glad that the Huskies have been good to your kids, but there's more involved here than that or so it sounds like.

This forum will not let us post phone numbers, so I xxx'd out the area code of the coach for this wonderful team. However, having his permission to give it out, the area code is 607.
You really are Puzzled aren't you Puzzled. You have tons of misinformation and apparently never bothered to get to the truth. Whoever told you it was "Village of Waverly recreation" and/or "Tri County Recreation" is just as puzzled as you are. This is a group of girls from the surrounding area covering three counties.....hence the name "Tricounty Huskies". Maybe you should also check into school sports programs that make all parents and students sign an injury waiver, in case of an injury playing ANY SCHOOL SPORT. And yes, this is a fact as I have 4 children who have been in sports in their middle and high school. So, Puzzled, maybe you should get your facts straight before you come up with these ridiculous accusations. And to the Athens Mother who listened to this banana, call the Huskies coach and get the exact information, not something made up out of whole cloth. We are extremely proud of the Huskies Cheerleaders. All the coaches are strictly volunteers, and receive no pay for the wonderful work they do with these young people. The team fundraises all year to support their organization and fund going to competitions. And speaking of competions, they have AGAIN made it to the national competitions which are being held March 8 & 9 in Washinton D.C. Check out the REAL wesite for this wonderful group at: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/tricountyhuskie... |

Ok here we go..My name is Ralph Babcock and I am founder of the Lady Huskies..this program was started for my daughter and some of her friends and also for some other kids who had been on a team the year before but get ripped off by the coach of that team..so I put this group together with a board of directors and a atheletic director to start the club off in the right direction...now to your concerns about "the recreation" problem that you are having...we are waiting on facilities to be built for this area..(which are in progress)we do have a letter from the organization stating that we are part of their recreation programs...and believe it or not this is very common in most of the competitions that we have been too..I have been coaching kids for over 24 yrs and this program is one of the best things that we have in the valley for these girls..oops boys.. too and for some people like yourself to just sit and wonder about things post them with ignorance is just nothing but hurtful...I WANT EVERYBODY TO BE CLEAR ABOUT THIS...I AM NOT TRYING TO LIVE MY LIFE THROUGH MY DAUGHTER...I DON'T LOOK GOOD IN A CHEER SKIRT...I do this for girls who have very little to do and if we can just help one girl through some of her life maybe it could be a difference in some of the choices she might make than if she wasn't a part of our program...now to my coaches...they are the greatest asset we have...ALL VOLUNTEER..during the season these people are going almost all week long to all my coaches you guys are the greatest...to finish this up again my name is Ralph Babcock and my email is jimeeb@yahoo.com so feel free to email me and get educated...GO HUSKIES...I AM SO PROUD OF YOU

It really saddens me that so many people have nothing better to do with their lives than to cause problems for others. Does the Huskie Organization go out and look for all the faults on the other teams that are around....NO. We are here strictly for the kids. We give each of these girls/boys positive influence. We take them out of the streets and give them something to look forward to. Our Organization is a family and each one of us coaches have much respect for every person on our team. Don't bad mouth our team or our coaches until you have come to see what we are about. You have been given email addresses to two of our board members, call them or email them with your questions. Take your negativity and turn it to something positive.....you will find yourselves much better off in life if you do. A special thank you to each of our cheerleaders, parents, friends and families for sticking by us. The Huskies would not be who we are today if it werent for all of you. Again, thanks and we love you all.
