YOU are missing the point, police don't get to teach people a lesson for organizing legal parties, no matter how much they feel they have that right. The incidents are separate, even if they were organized by the same hooligans, get it? Maybe MySpace is probable cause to come on their property, maybe it isn't. The facts that matter is that the two parties, one was an illegal keg party for underage drinkers, the other was a legal root beer keg party, and if the police overreacted and are embarrassed, they shouldn't take their pettiness out on the kids.<quoted text>
You are missing the point and ignoring the first party. The first party was a Beer Keg Party, these kids were arrested for under age drinking.
See if you can grasp this...These same kids set up this Root Beer "Keg". They listed it on My Space as " A Keg" party and lead people to belive it was a beer keg party, as the first party, which was a beer party was on My Space and the kid's parents saw it and reported it.
The purpose and intent was to lead people to belive it was a real Keg party, so the police would respond and get embarrassed. To teach these kids a lesson they police did what they did.
See the issue is not that it was a Root Beer Keg party, but the issue is that these kids did this to relaliate against the police for arresting them for underage drinking at the first party, which was a Beer Keg party, not a Root Beer Keg party.
Get all the facts straight next time. You keep ignoring the facts of the first party and why these kids had the Root Beer Keg Party.
Get yet or are you still trying to ignore the facts that lead up to the Root Beer Keg Party.

It is not illegal for kids under 21 to have alcohol on their breath, their parents and/or legal age spouses can supply them with alcoholic beverages. The suppliers only have to be present while the underage person is actually "knowingly consuming or posessing" after that the underaged person is free to do anything but drive a vehicle. Driving a vehicle by an underage person who has alcohol in their system is a violation of the CONTRACT with the state that comes with having a signed drivers license. |

And yet again ignoring the fact that this so called "Root Beer Keg Party" was in retailiation for arresting them for underage drinking at the first party which was a true Beer Party. You are trying to ignore the facts. The true issue here is the fact that the second party was a set up to embarrass the police, because the police arrested them a week before for underage drinking. Had this not been the case the police would not have reacted the way they did. Try looking at all the facts not just the ones you want to focus on. Try seeing the whole picture. The problem is you are ignoreing the under age drinking party that leas up to this completely. Or do you think it's okay to retaliate against the police if they arrest you for committing a crime. Or are you of those involved. |

Call me nostalgic, but remember the days when cops used common sense like maybe noticing a distinct lack of alcohol smell or any evidence of beer??
I think Barney and Otis have switched uniforms! LOL |
Just For The Record, Who is retaliating against who?? Who should have a greater sense and power of reasonning, a bunch of high school kids or a highly trained, expensive police force??? The cops violated the law and the kids rights, they should be charged and penalized for their "juvenile" actions. The kids did nothing but be kids, the cops were a bunch of buffoons, worse than normal. |

Set up to embarrass the police, which they did easily.......hmmmmm.........I think the Zen Birdist Barney Fife thing has some merit here.......does the Wausau Police chief allow the officers to put bullets in their guns? |
|
When you think of the money spent on these police forces and these officers it makes one wonder what it is all about. If these cops represent a cross section of all officers we are in for a world of hurt. Who ever would believe that a highly trained officer would retaliate against children?? It almost sounds like some of the games that abusive mothers pull on their children. |

In simple English these kids were gettjing revenge for the police arresting them the week before for underage drinking at a "Beer Keg" Party that was advertised on My Space. Underage drinking is against the law. The police arrest them at the second party because these kid represented it as a beer party, had someone call 911 to report a "keg party". This was to embarrass the police because this party was a Root Beer Keg party. Of course, as the week before these kids had an underage drinking party the police had no reason to believe the caller was not telling the truth. When the police arrived the kids yelled "Got Ya", and admitted to the set up. First the police don't answer the 911 calls, a 911 dispatcher does and determines if the call is real or not and dispatches the police. Now would you have prefered for them to stop responding to 911 calls. Second, these kids were arrest to teach them not to mess with the police just becuase they were upset that the week before they were arrest for underage drinking at a beer party where they consumed beer. Did they over react maybe. However, the lack of respect for the law is in referrence to the first party that was an underage drinking party. The one you and the media have ignored. The one that caused the chain of events that lead up to the "Root Beer Keg" Party. You are completing ignoreing all the facts, because if you look at all the facts you would have to admit that these kids were in the wrong. Had the prior events not happend I would have agreed with you, but I know the full story and the chain of events. These kids were just upset they got caught the week before for breaking the law. Apparently, you are unable to comprehend the complete chain of events. Which makes any further discussion on this issue irrelvant and a waste of time. |

@ wrongs don't make a right. The cops are wrong and should be penalized for their infractions. The kids, as young and immature as they are, came out on top of this highly paid and trained police force. I am now locking my windows and doors at night to keep out the likes of these well uniformed criminals. |

This is funny no matter how you cut it.
Revenge by itself is not illegal. "The best revenge is in living well." The kids were living well. I can picture Barney Fife jumping all over the place with a breathalyzer and screaming orders. The proper response by the officers, once they saw the plan, would have been "party on." It would have saved them from the Mayberry connection that a lot of people are making. I hope the kids contest their citations. |
|
Third, it is a waste of police resources to answer 911 calls about a keg party. The person who called it in had no right to tie up the 911 system. Did the police ticket that person for misleading information? 911 is supposed to be for emergencies, not "they forgot the sauce on my big mac", or "i heard some kids are having a keg party". Get over it. You must be one of the cops that got embarrassed. |
