Full story: TwinCities.com

LOL i've read a few sites stories on this, as soon as i get out of work i'm gonna watch the youtube. this is hilarious, i hope i get to see the cops' reactions in the video. cops/school admins/etc really need to stop jumping to conclusions, teens do more than just drink, smoke, and have sex.

Why did they need to give nearly 90 of them breathalyzers? You would think that after the first 30 passed the rest would have too, since they were drinking root beer.
Nice use of tax dollars!

It would seem to confirm a suspicion, if they are on the numbers and target game they are forced to make an arrest. Most often they find something after all our 'waste of taxpayer dollar types' have to remember that most money is made not by arresting criminals but the fallout and processing. It isn't a case of how you doing kids, what's new, how's the school football team doing. Sadly it is a loss for society and a way of life, now it's them or us, they work for the state, and thought they probably could hit the jackpot for weekly arrests.

What right did the cops have to give these kids breathalyzers?? None of them were driving at the party, and where was the probable cause or "implied consent" with NO DRIVERS?? All of these cops, and their bosses, should be the defendents in a civil rights suit.

Ummm...just because they aren't driving doesn't mean it's not still illegal to underage drink. You'd be ok with your 17 year old drinking as long as he wasn't driving. Oh good a bunch of drunk high schoolers with no cars, wonder what they will do to entertain themselves instead. The cops had every right to test them. I wonder too though why they did all 90. Maybe as a punishment of sorts for the prank.

The cops did not have any legal power to give all of these kids breathalyzers. They should all be tried for rights and Color of Law violations.

I know WI reasonably well, and the 'I' target numbers are a good earner and girl guide points for county DA's. So I do fully understand your enthusiasm and zealousness for brown nosing the DA or sargeant. Why though is it they can't use similar discretion when they come across a dead deer or other furry creatures. Testing all the motorists and passers by with DNA tests to see which groups of hard up males did the honors. I maybe jaded about law enforcement and discretion, but I do know many do cherry picking when it comes to dealing with the grunt work.
I am starting a save the duck campaign, these are the only animals listed as unscathed by this epidemic of unreported proportions.

Implied Consent only applies if you are driving a car or other motor vehicle. What these people did is violate all 90 of these people rights to illegal search and seizure, and the 4th Amendment, and their oaths of office. No small thing, unless you are.

This would be hilarious and disturbing at the same time, if it were real. But it's obviously staged-- you can see the squad cars waiting in the background for their cue to move in (as well as crowds of onlookers observing from the crosswalk at the end of the block), and you can clearly hear the director's comments over a bullhorn. This is "raw footage" for a TV show or a commercial.

Andrew, that is flippin' brilliant!! Thanks large for the link.

And the wider "point" isn't lost on me, either. I also saw the first link you posted, about the "sk8er" confrontation in Baltimore (?)-- I hope that kid later got an apology from Deputy Fife there, along with a matching one from the Chief, and that the officer got a transfer to Subway Sandwich Artist (tm). I am very pro-blue, but not like that.

I do hope you understand that I too have a healthy respect for both the work and purpose of our friends in blue. However like all basic social functions that support a society. Law, education, social, services, welfare, they have all been privatised and taken on the mantle of business. This is incompatible with their basic function and contradictory if not downright unhealthy. It has lead to some very jaded perceptions by many personnel (aka human resources) and leads us down a path that strikes me as inevitable, a societal schizm.

Why do you call this a 'prank'? It was a party. Can't our kids have some fun and get together with their friends? They need to get together to learn social skills and become less nervous, and more confident with themselves.
To the cops: You should have just laughed and told the kids to have fun, and move on to find the real kegger.
