Hang up the phone and watch where you're going. Semi drivers are the worst offenders of being on the phone while driving.

But pedestrians and bicyclists must also do their part to not get run over. You may THINK you have the right of way, but when it comes down to it, the vehicle does. You will never win that battle and its not worth risking your life over. Thats why this new legislation that requires traffic to stop if theres pedestrians waiting to cross is such b.s. Just look both ways before you cross when no cars are coming and you'll be fine. Assuming that government has granted you safe passage and cars must stop for you is putting your life in danger.

Maybe you should try driving a truck for a living or at least hear all the facts before you open your big mouth about truck drivers.I've been an over the road truck driver for over 22 years and I can tell you that most accidents that involve a truck and a car is coused by the driver of the car.now I'm not sure but if this woman on the bike was in this drivers blind spot then there would be no posible way he could have seen her,And the report did say the truck driver was making a turn.

The truck was driving on the main road and was turning onto a side street. The bike rider was going straight on the main road and was crossing the street the truck was turning onto when struck.
The bike rider in this case had the right of way, and was visible to the driver according to 3 witnesses accounts to police. There is a witness who reported the driver was on a phone or similiar device at the time of the accident.

Maybe you should heed your own advice before you jump to the defense of the driver in this case. He was at fault.

How many loads have fallen off trucks and killed people because the driver did not secure his/her load properly? I can think of 3 in minnesota in the past 2 years alone. Get off your high horse, truck drivers make mistakes like EVERYONE else and when one of them screws up you're going to have to take the lumps that come with that, just like everyone else.

Oh yeah? ANd just where did you get your statistics? Care to cite your source on that? Contrary to what judgemental idiots like you believe about truck drivers, they are the safest drivers on the road, generally speaking. As the other poster said, most accidents involving tractor-trailers are caused by private passenger vehicles.

She was finishing a training ride for a ironman triathlon and was killed when the semi driver turned into her. She had no chance. I feel sorry for the driver, everyone makes mistakes. But what a loss.

I think Truck drivers, in general, are safe drivers.....it's not like they can stop on a dime, even the best of them need space to stop. Inattentive cylist get hit......They can stop, turn, and can see the trucks and cars much easier than the other way around.
Defensive Cycling is often clouded by the cyclist belief that thay have the right of way so all should yield to them. What a loss, my heart goes out to the family of the victim and to the driver.

Lets stop with the blame game here - I thought most of us were adults - yes people make mistakes and unfortunately unless you know either one of the parties personally your opinion really doesn't matter - one's dead and the other has to live with it - right or wrong. How many of you have not seen someone coming and pulled out in front of them, you know the old saying - "People who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones"

Daily Horoscope for December 22

Aquarius

Unfortunately it won't take much to get your wires crossed, especially if you're trying to keep track of your Christmas preparations. It's hard to work out what still needs to be done. A member of the family is away with the fairies or is being completely fanciful. It's a pest because that sort of behavior can make you feel anxious and harassed.
