What's appalling is that it took so long to come about. Now let's use that power for change.

This is so stupid I can't even think about it! Women only got the right to vote in 1920? What could politics possibly have been like when it was only men voting? Oh. Right. Free beer from campaign wagons.

Unlike what many say, there is no constitutional right to vote. I would support legislation that would require one to pay income taxes in order to vote in a national election. Soon those that pay 100% of the income taxes will be less than 50% of the voters. When the minority pay 100% of all income taxes, you can kiss any type of income tax reform good-bye.

So if you get a refund during election year, you can't vote? Are you willing to pay the extra taxes just to manage such a quagmire?

If a person in the top 1% of wealth, pays a smaller portion of his income in taxes than you do, do you get more a voting power then them.

I agree, the Const. doesn't explicity State your right to vote. But it does state that a person cannot be denied the right to vote because of race or gender, and also for not paying a poll tax.

Your suggestion boils down to a poll tax. Our Const. specially states you cannot deny a person a vote due to failure to pay a poll tax. I agree with that.

Be careful. You may be pricing yourself out of your voting rights.

So are you inferring that if one gets a refund then one had no income tax liability?

American Indians didn't get citizenship until 1924 (something like that) and couldn't vote until years after that. Blacks had trouble voting in various places also for decades after getting recognized as citizens.

Back in the good old days, it was great to be a white man. But it sucked big time for everyone else.

I'm saying basing voting rights on how much taxes you pay is totally un-American.

It's amounts to a poll tax and specifically stated as a no-go in the Constitution.

If you're an American, your right to vote should and can not be based on what you pay to the Government.

Move to China or something, if you're for such a way of life.
