I used to live in Gretna back in the early 60's.I was just a young kid then but still have fond memories of living there. Our family moved to California after 8th grade. We used to live on Highland street.I remember how hot it got in the summer time and how cold it would get in the winter. The snow and some times the blizzards. How we would listen to the radio and hope to hear those words Gretna Public Schools will be closed today because of the weather. How they would close off the big hill and we would use our sleds to go down it.Fredricks grocery store was the only food store in town.Later they build a small bowling alley out by highway 6.I went to school in the old school house.A two story building with those old fire escapes on the outside of the building.I still remember a lot of my old classmates.I can imagine the town has changed so much over the years. Is there any one left that still lives there that can remember those days and maybe even me?

I moved to Ashland in 1979 and remember Frederick's grocery store. It is a dollar store now. I also remember the bowling alley, it closed a few years ago and is now a large convenient store/gas station. I think there is a cafe in back, too. Gretna has really grown. It has a Godfathers Pizza and Pizzahut, lots of fast food places and massive new housing developements. New schools have also been built.

There was a small department store in town.I forgot the name of it.They used to use the siren every night at 6pm.That's how we knew it was time for supper and would go home.Every summer I think it was in August there used to be a picnic put on by the local bank in a small park by highway 6.Every thing was free. All the ice cream and soda you could want.Free hotdogs and burgers. Those were the days. There was also a diary queen.

I remember I had a crush on J.S. There was a school dance in 7th grade at the new school. We had to bring our own records and used the school record player.I walked her to the dance and walked her home again.I often wonder if my old classmates are still around.

Daily Horoscope for December 20

Leo

If you were unable to resolve yesterday's difficulties they'll be even more pronounced today a Mars turns retro in your sign. Get everything out in the open so you can discuss it, otherwise you run the risk of harbouring resentments and grudges that will emerge further down the line. Be prepared to hear some home truths and also to deliver a few of your own. But be fair!
