I always thought it was funny that the church community are called "followers". The exact opposite of everything we should strive to be.

Church is legalistic religion. I have Jesus, but I don't have a regular church to attend. I do occasionally attend churches of different denominations on Sundays because I do enjoy meeting new people and the fellowship involved. But I also see that most of these people carry God in a box only on Sundays and when they sign up for committees.
Just something that I have recognized. I'm happy because I talk to God whenever I want. My practice is upheld in the Bible. It is what fits me and my beliefs; I love it that way.

If you go there and give to the collection, ask the pastor. If you don't go there, then it's none of your business.

They have a food pantry that serves hundreds of people each month and gives out special food baskets at Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Easter, a fund to help people with utility bills and rent if needed, I personally know of 3 families that they have set up in apartments complete with food, furniture, and even some clothing if needed. At Christmas they have an adopt a family program that serves well over 100 people. They have helped people who have lost their jobs pay for COBRA coverage for their insurance.
I know there are other things but this is all I can come up with off the top of my head.

Hope Church has had to pick up the slack brought on by Cahokia Community Basket, when that lady that runs that place started handing out food that wasnt fit for a dog to eat Hope Chuch picked up the slack so no one would go hungery. That is why there are so many people coming from st.Clair county to Hope Church.

That's right. I don't know. Since I am not a member of that church, it is not my business. But, if you are a member, just ask. It sounds as though the members know. Just ask the pastor. I'm sure he's not keeping it a secret from anyone.

It seems like they care who can donate the most money. We miss it but we are not up to there standards. Its all about the money.

Every church I was ever in, it always came around to the money. They would always give you a sob story about the power bill or new carpeting or missions. The more I went, the more money they wanted. There was always an extra collection for this or that. Any you were not a "good christian" if you didn't give. I was born and raised catholic, converted to lutheran and now am a atheist! They ran me away until the only thing that makes sense is the whole theory of evolution! All the rest is a story that some guys wrote!

I hear you on this. I was catholic and it was always about how much you donated and they would tell you every so often how low your donation record. So yes i am now a firm believer in evolution and my life is great without all of this religious non-sense.

Daily Horoscope for December 23

Gemini

You're in a very erratic mood today, making you restless, edgy and nervy. It may be almost impossible to settle to anything for long, because, as Mercury slows, you soon lose interest. If life becomes boring you'll want to liven it up in some way and it's likely you'll choose the most disruptive and controversial option you can think of, even though you know this will cause trouble.
