This should be amusing. Let's tell whenever we see someone abusing the link card. I'll start. I was in Hucks and a woman who weighed well over 300# was buying a large soda for herself AND her overweight son. She whipped out my tax dollars to pay for the sodas, and her son said "Mom, I want a doughnut". He grabbed one. I left. I'm glad I am buying this woman and her son sodas and doughnuts. Mr. O

Hot Carl had a Link card in college. Hot Carl didn't need it because mom/dad paid tuition, rent and gave monthly allowance. Hot Carl worked but had low enough income to qualify. Every month Hot Carl had steak and lobster parties. Hot Carl provided the food, friends provided the booze. Hot Carl thought this was the shizznit.

I was at Wal-Mart a few nights ago, waiting in line to check out. I had a few food items in the cart, mainly the necessities and it was ALL generic. I am not even close to being rich, and I don't consider myself middle class..just pay check to pay check. Anyway the young girl in front of me had her cart completely filled to the top. Everything from the snack cakes, soda, chips, etc..that I could see was all name brand. Her child was sitting in the child seat of the cart. Everything from his shoes to his nike socks were all name brand. Young mom too was dressed to impress. When it came time to pay BAM out she pulls the link card. Yes I was pissed. Here I have a cart with the bare minimum and all generic at that, and I only had the bare minimum because that is all my budget would allow and here this young girl buys the entire store out of food with her link card. According to the Govmt I make to much. I guess I will never understand. Owell I don't think anything will ever get done about it.

George wrote: What about the billions of our tax dollars going for farm subsidies? The Republican farm of welfare! Youre right George. We should be paying $30/gallon milk $30/lb hamburger $25/loaf bread $50/cereal except food is held ARTIFICIALLY low so you can drive your new truck and have nice vacations. Perhaps every penny fuel and wages rise your food should match. You clearly have no clue what the machinery and supplies cost these days just so all the middlemen can make huge profits.

By the way George, when you have to pay union wages to have machinery built you know immediately the manufacturers are inefficient.

Take it to the farm subsidies thread. It has been beat to death. My tax dollars paid for Hartmsn's new HUGE ASS SHED! Farmers are largely democrat. Wonder why? Subsidies. But, back to link. Mr. O We can slam other welfare abusers here.

Mr. O this annoys me when people say "my tax dollars". like your taxes went specifically to that one individual. I too am a taxpayer, but I dont look at it as each individual. truthfully, because i dont know each persons individual circumstances, I dont judge. what is the difference if they get the soda and donut from schnucks or hucks? its still a food item, right? I might be taking this the wrong way(regardless, the taxes are gonna be put to bad use either way, is how I look at it) but are you saying that you think because this woman is obese that, that is the only reason she has the link card? explain

It is really a shame that lots of people abuse things like this. I read where a lady was somehow using food stamps to buy beer and cigs. I think that she was selling them to someone. I wouldn't mind this whole program if it wasn't abused. Some people really need it to survive while she is living the life on all of us. Our governtment is all messed up but so are some of our people.

I know of some people who have the link card but still spend a little bit of what little money they have on a 12 pack or a pack of cigarettes. do you really think that means they are abusing it?! they are not using the card for it. they put in their income to the state and the state decides okay this is what they get. they do account for "miscellaneous" expenses from what I hear. if they spend their $40 of "misc" money on some booze, i have no problem with that.

Our governtment is all messed up but so are some of our people. I agree with you 100%. The problem is that a majority of the people in this area who are on the program have been on it their entire life. They have been brought up to believe that you have kids to survive and the more kids you have the better you can live. The kids are no longer something that you cherish and love but have become a commodity.

Not impossible! Lets just say you know a clerk at the local convenient store and you go in and purchase $30 worth of food products. The clerk in turn puts the food products back and lets you walk out with $20 worth of booze and cigs. This would not work out at a national chain possibly but it would work out well at a local mom and pop store ran by folks who don't speak good english!
