Why would any coach allow their jv team to play games without a pitcher and a catcher? Coach Renner is horrible! Why is Mason putting up with this?

How does one play a softball game without a pitcher and a catcher?

Coach Renner didn't pull the jv pitcher and catcher to varsity for no reason. The players have said they would rather have a position on varsity than pitch and catch jv. And I believe the varsity team is 8-2 she doesn't need a reason they're proving her reasoning just fine so get your facts straight before you go and critique someone's coaching.

Yes, they may have been offered the option to play jv or varsity but why is Renner giving them the option to do this anyway. Its not their choice to "pick" which team they play on. But back to the topic on hand, taking the jv's only pitcher and catcher is basically like a slap in the face to Mason saying you don't matter and neither does jv. She had no reason to bring the girls up anyway varsity has two very capable pitchers and catchers there is no reason to have a third pitcher and catcher. Also, this is the second time she has left jv like this. Now I'm sure your thinking that if your good enough to be on varsity and jv you should be but if jv needed them and had nobody else then they should have stayed. With Renner keeping those girls on varsity it made a lot of the jv girls feel like she didn't care and they were considering quitting... Just my opinions and facts so take them as I said them

It's all about developing your varsity team, not whose feelings get hurt because others were pulled up. Freshman and JV are for development - varsity is what matters. Get over it, WHS softball has made a complete turnaround in the past 5 years - and there is a reason for that.

Exactly jv is for development so why take their only pitcher and catcher to varsity were they sat the bench why not let them "develop" and play jv where they'll at least get innings in

U didn't even have a legitimate answer to my response why did she need to pull up jvs only pitcher and catcher when they were going to sit the bench on varsity. They gained some real experience doing that...

They gained some real experience doing that... maybe she wants them for back ups? Who cares, it's not your call, it's the coach's call. It happens in every single sport out there, boys and girls - sometimes there is a reason the coach has that you don't even know about.

They already have a back-up pitcher and catcher and girls pitchers can throw everyday with little to no rest so that's not a valid reason... If she was going to take their only pitcher and catcher why not just cancel the game altogether cause from what I heard the jv team walked about 4 girls an inning, which isn't even enjoyable for even the other team...

It's not for you to pick apart and analyze.

It was two games and was going to be three before the third one was rained out. The Belleville West coach was mad that whs wasted their time and didn't forfeit. I guess they didn't get the memo that schools should be lucky to have jv teams!

What is going to happen when the varsity pitchers graduate and there isn't another person with pitching experience anywhere in the program?

Any player on jv considering quitting because the loss of two players should be ashamed. The players on the varsity team have endured losing seasons for over 5 seasons now and now they're work and dedication is finally paying off. As a coach you do what's best for your team. As a player you accept what's best for the team as a whole. You're telling me if you were the coach and had the option to pull up two good jv players to help out your team who's finally having a winning season. You wouldn't? The fact is if losing two players makes jv girls wanna quit then they should because softball isn't about winning. Winning is just a bonus. It's about working hard to get the results you want. It's about trusting your teammates to have your back. Being a softball player on jv makes you want to better yourself and work harder so that maybe one day you get pulled up, everyone has their day its up to them how long it takes to get there. Attitude and determination has altered the varsity girls record greatly and I hope it does the same for jv.

I have no idea what ages the girls on Varsity are, but it sounds like the coach is putting all of her eggs in this basket. We will see how their teams are in the future. Anyone can coach a group of gifted athletes, but it takes a great coach to build a program.

I'd fire the athletic director, oh thats already been done by the loser school board. and if a school board members kid is on the JV team then the coaches job is in jeopardy.
