What do you think of the Wall Mural Downtown ?

I know I'm just a teen and my opinion isn't of great value, however, I just wanted to say that I believe the mural does look like it came from a book, but not a kids book! It looks like you're looking into a live photo of a small town -- which is cool! I think it inspires people. It may not be the most perfect piece of art -- especially while in progress, but it shows effort to brighten up Clarkston and a love of Clarkston and art. A lot of time and money went into this project. I think that this mural shouldn't be washed away because people think it doesn't go. I mean, do you say to your kids or other peoples kids when their work is on display at school, "take it down, it doesn't go", or, "you used fine art supplies for this ugly picture?" NO!!! and why not? Because they tried and did their best and made it how they saw it. If you don't like the mural, you have a right to voice your opintion, however, you shouldn't be rude or impolite about it. Would you act this way at the Detroit Institute of Arts when they bring in a new painting???

Come on people! All art is subjective. You don't have to love it or hate it, just appreciate that a person spent time to create something for Clarkston and it's residents to share. Let it be completed, viewed, and later in time if it's still deemed to be "inappropriate for Clarkston", then it can be removed. Lastly, you all complain about it "taking too long", yet I'm sure that none of you offered to help in any way. By the way, how long did it take to paint the Sistine Chapel?? Not that I'm comparing the two works of art, just pointing out that it takes time to complete art -- especially when your canvas is outside.

Why should anyone have offered to help??? The artist is the one that took on the job, not the residents of Clarkston. Maybe she should have thought about needing help before she started such a huge undertaking. Maybe this scenario would have played out differently if her attitude had been different. Almost immediately she displayed contempt for the citizens of Clarkston and went online and sent letters reflecting her disdain, as if we had no right to critique her work or the time it was taking to finish the mural. She won no friends with that approach, and it all seemed to go downhill from there. She has no one to blame but herself for the outcome.

All the scaffolding and plastic is gone. It's really over.

Now, what's going to happen to the huge eyesore that remains? I wish we could post pictures in here so everyone could see just exactly what we're talking about here. The wall is a mess and I hope it's painted over soon.

Has there been any discussion about what's going to happen to the wall now that she's gone? Anybody know?

I think they're painting over it. I saw some painters there today.

they r actually letting her finish it, they r giving it till the end of this year

the mural is prtraying clarkston past and present, but i do not know if they have a web site, sorry!

You can't tell an artist when he's done. Just get over yourselves already. Ride it out and enjoy the evolution of a masterpiece.

Im so glad she prevailed over all of the rednecks commies in the village and the garden club who tried to smear the project and her professionalism.

Wow Hurray...you're more than a little condescending to those folks who do not feel the same way you do.

She may have "prevailed" but at what cost? Not many people in the village are impressed with her abilitles and those of us who have followed this from the beginning are even less impressed with her professionalism. Instead of embracing the people who questioned the project she developed a holier than thou attitude and looked down her nose at all of us in her own "redneck commie" way. Acceptance is a two way street. Sometimes you have to earn acceptance and respect. She failed miserably. Don't judge one side without judging the other. And don't forget...she has a deadline for completion of her masterpiece. Someone, somewhere, IS determining when she's done.

how long will this be a work in progress?...guiness may well need a mural record but practice that record in some other town please.

It's my understanding that there is a deadline. I think it's the end of this month. It's not looking like it will be done by then. Not sure what's going to happen if the deadline comes and the thing isn't finished.

what's the word on the unfinished mural? the end of month has come and gone and it's still not done.
