My daughter 29 year old Jennifer Setters, was the victim driving home from Fort Richardson to pick up her 3 month old son when this happened. The Wasilla Police Department told me they did not have anything to do with the case and had no case number. I called the Troopers and was given both report numbers for Wasilla Police and Troopers. My son-in law called back to Wasilla Police and was informed that the public cannot sue the Wasilla Department becasue they are "exempt". They refused to give us a copy of the police report or who the officers were. They also refused to give witness names, so if you saw anything with regards to the high speed chase or as Wasilla Police calls it "just following" please call Trooper Peterson in Palmer. How many more people must die or be injured for life before the police quit "following" a possible drunk driver in excess of 100 miles per hour. They should have called ahead set up road blocks and stayed hidden and out of the women in the GMC trucks sites. The women should have at the worst spent the night in jail and not flown to Anchorage in fear of her life. Wasilla Police you have 2 lives to answer for!!My daughter is alive because she drove a SUV with a drop down engine on impact and a air bag. She had to suffer for 3 days befor they could fix her broken bones while the blood drained from her brain. She is bruised over every inch of her body and cannot even hold her son. But she is alive and with several more months of physical therapy might have a day without pain, fear & frustration and be a family once again. She has so much faith and I know would want to thank the priest that came to the Hospital to pray with her. God had his arms around her that day and we thank the Lord with all our hearts.

You're thanking god for letting your daughter be sevrely injured? Maybe god should have been watching out for her BEFORE she got hit by a drunk driver. Do yourself a favor and start questioning your "faith".

And stop blaming the police. It's the drunk driver who did this. You can't fault the police for trying to stop her. If they hadn't, and your daughter had been killed, you'd be crying that the police had seen the drunk driver and hadn't done anything.

I am so sorry to read of this, just tonight 12/07.
God Bless you and your daughter, and all you have been through. You can sue, whomever you choose to. There is no immunity protection. Seek out information from victims rights groups, or a paralegal, or atty. if you can. Your faith is what has sustained you, guided you, will heal you, and carry you through. Be strong & carry on. I hope things are healing & getting better. Do not fear holding the wrong-doers accountable, including out-dated police policy.
