I'm a relatively new Wasilla resident. Here are my thoughts: This is, without a doubt God's country. You may consider me an authority on this subject, at least in terms of scenery. I have traveled almost all of the lower 48 states, as well as parts of Canada. Let me tell you - it doesn't get any better than the Matanuska valley!

I have yet to get an overall "feel" for the people here, but my first impression is very good. My neighbors have been very generous and friendly. I've had the opportunity to see much of the valley, and this is truly gorgeous country.

I must admit though, someone acustomed to city life would not feel at home here. An outdoorsman though, would think he/she had died and gone to heaven!

I only regret that I will miss my first Alaskan winter, since I'll be deploying with my unit to Iraq in early October.

I'm looking forward to meeting other residents of the Matanuska Valley!
