The anti-semitism here is pretty intense, although most people I have spoken to have never met a real -life Jewish person.

No more intense than in the rest of the world. I wouldn't get excited, Poland is like a drop in an ocean in terms of influence. Telling them what to do will only aggravate them. I suggest minding your own business.

There are good reasons for anti-semitism in Poland (or enywhere else in the world) and it's got nothing to do with meeting a real life Jewish person.
The comment suggests that anti-semitism is baseless which is totally hipocritical.

what exactly are the reasons for anti semitism in poland. Many polish people are raised with hostility towards the almost non existant jewish population in Poland. Many polish people hate jews and have no basis for it. They have never met jews and they are still antisemitic. And when you ask them why they always make up so crap about jews running poland. I find this rediculous. Please explain the reasons for antisemitism Geaorge

G. Konarski: you understood exactly the opposite of what the gentleman meant to say. He agrees with you, that there are good reasons for antisemitism (tongue in cheek...)- only they don't exist in Poland, being devoid of Jews ;-)
What are you? One of those thickheads Polack emigrees who has problems comprehending texts? The only Jews which Poles can see these days in Poland are the Holy Mother and her son. I wonder why they don't hate them, having been full and observant Jews? And like they say, "W polsce, nie kazdy Zid to wrog, ale kazdy wrog to Zyd!)

Thank you so much for that point, Chris. It's so sad about what is happening with Poland becoming so antiSemitic since at one time it was a haven for Jews being persecuted in medieval Europe during the Black Plague and such. Before the Holocaust, I believe that Poland had the highest population of Jews, about 20% or so, and they contributed to the richness of the Polish culture in indescribable ways. I too want just one or two good reasons for this hatred. It's unbelievable that this country, which had suffered so much during World War II, has not learned the lesson of what happens when hatred runs amuck.

Yes, if you have never met a real life Jew, then you know nothing about who they truly are and cannot hate or dislike them since you do not know them. It's not hypocritical, it's simply common sense.

What's wrong with your keyboard, Franciszek?
Can't get a handle on the spellcheck or something?

Do you know what you want to say exactly? Or are you so blind in your rage of the Jews that you can't key your poor slogans properly?

And you are wrong, the Jews are only hated by ignorants like you. Decent people respect them and accept them, but you wouldn't know about that!

Why don't you go out and play with your kite, like a good boy?

All my life, I have been wracking my brain trying to figure out why the Nazis hated the Jews. I know about Bolshevism, and the treaty of Versailes, but that doesn't seem to explain it to me. What else?????

You are very nationalistic in your interests then. I would advise be more humanistic and universal in approach.
I have been more general in my interests. I have been wracking my brain trying to figure out why there are people who hate any people.
I know for sure that there are plenty of people (including on this forum) who are indignant when someone hates their favoured group and at the same time those same people hate some other group/people.

It's all about finding scapegoats.

The NAZI ideology only took on board supra nationalist ideas that were prevalent in Germany at the begining of the XXth century and pushed them to the point of paroxysm.

Some Germans couldn't understand how Germany, the strongest European power, managed to get deafeated in WW1, when (a) they reached agreement with Russia and stoped fighting in East front (acquiring territories in the process,(b) they were not militarily defeated in the Western front - still occupying part of France.

The collapse of Germany was economic: they couldn't afford to carry on the war. Many Germans couldn't understand that and look who had benefited from the war effort in Germany.

The nationalists took the view that the Jews were responsible. Rumours started to spread about Jewish money put in overseas banks, Jews financing both sides (allies and Germany), plus that came about at the same time that the socialist movement became important in Germany - Spartakism, led by some Jews.

The nationalists having watched the Russian revolution, where some Jews were predominant too (i.e. Trotsky)saw it as a Jewish plot that would take over their country too, and made the Jews their enemies number one.

Propaganda, pogroms, brainwashing, discrimination,
arrests, deportation, extermination, it was easy to enrol the population's approval for the NAZIs.

The racism element in the NAZI ideology comes from the Society of Thule, a semi-clandestine association that wanted racial purity in Germany: nordic race, fair hair, blue eyes, that sort of thing. The NAZIs adopted their theories.

Just this: Roman Catholic church, along with Polish government and the people of Poland should work together to stamp out anti-semitism from their society. That's all..

Just some thoughts:

Anti-Semitism will exist as long there exist independent jewish groups in other countries/regions.

Think about it...
Just in Europe for example people wandered, mixed, assimilated, made room for themselves, acted with each other, made war, made peace.

But Jews where ever they came to live stayed Jews, clearly distinct from the rest. They seldom wanted to assimilate (or were forbidden to assimilate).
It's what makes their society so unique but they had to pay the price.
Whenever there was a crisis the Jews were the stranger, the thorn, easily identifiable as the foreign element even after centuries.

Ordinary people don't like others who deny to assimilate, who have in the worst case double loyalties/or none at all.
They are not seen as part of "THEIR" people, and watched with mistrust/doubts at best and hate at worst.

Question:
If all Jews worldwide were to gather in Israel would the relationship between all people and the Jews normalize?
I personally think yes...

You shouldn't be using that nickname! And my future daughter-in-law is a Reform Jew; you couldn't meet a lovelier, more unselfish young woman. You obviously don't have a lot of love or charity in your soul. I pity you.

I agree with you to a point, although I think that asking all Jews to live in Israel might be taken badly.

Jews tend to stick together because they know full well that there will most likely be an anti-semitic uprosing in most generations, as history would demonstrate. Everyone knows that the best chance of survival is 'strength in numbers'.

Perhaps Jews would feel more comfortable integrating if they were able to trust that no one would try and single them out.

I think you're looking at it backwards.
