Just wondering

Bowling Green, KY

#1 May 23, 2010
I have heard for years about the murder of Cowboy Hopkins but never knew what happened. Someone is always posting things in the local paper asking for information. What is the truth about this murder? Does someone know who did it? Is it being covered up?

It's being covered up. People know. Nobody cares to say anything about it. The guy is a murderer. They're probably scared.

If someone knows, I don't know how they can lay their head down at night and go to sleep. He deserves justice and his family deserves answers. I know who one of the biggest crooks in G.C. is, could it possibly be C.D.?

Rumors were that a certain person just so happened to be at the scene before the police and coroner came...and he moved things around...he knows who he is....

I want nothing to do with this case. I'd rather pull folks over for no seat belt... regular motorists, regular white people who just does whatever a cop tell them, like that Baltimore Cop that beat up a 14 year old kid, or those other cops that tazed a man with no legs (or that cop that tazed that man that was already down on the ground), or that cop that murdered a 92 year old woman.

But go after a murderer? Yeah right. Count me out.

I'm from GC. I knew and liked Cowboy and I give a damn. I'm sure many other people do to and I admire his sister for the article she always writes in the paper so his death isn't just another "cold case."

Cowboy Was well liked in the town. The person and persons involved is still among us .Could be someone that has some pull in the community and is involved in everything. I assume this is an open case and one of these days they will eventually catch who was involved.SOMEONE covered this up so it has to be a cop or someone who was a first responder. Who was there first? People eventually brag and boast about the bad deeds they have done to others and it will come out. Who investigated this? Had to of had something to do with it.

it has to be somebody on the inside, you'd think, and being so many years ago, there probably isn't much evidence left. just witness testimonies. though that's important... i would think there should be a file folder someplace in some police department... it happened on walnut valley, so that's the Sheriff's department, though KSP many times take over for a murder...

So there's definitely info out there, and his sister has been adamant about keeping this issue alive, which is a good thing, though somebody who has the authority to do something about it, should.

And think about the motive... who could have profited, who would have gained anything by Cowboys death? Did he have any enemies? Have those folks been questioned? If so, by who? There should be a name of some official that is attached to this case... KSP has lots of cold cases in their file cabinets and since this was never solved, then that file should still be there. Also, an autopsy, and a toxicology report should be done, always, with any suspicious death. Plus the angle of the weapon, the type of bullet used (to figure out the gun used). The murderer clearly did things smoothly, but they always mess up on something, and then they try to come back later to fix that one little detail they messed up on. hair follicies, shoe prints, fingerprints... all these would have had to been found 10 years ago when this happened.

You see, if our officials kept everything public and let us know what is going on, then there wouldn't be so many secrets going on in town... but our government is shrowded in secrecy... that's what they do. They have power, and now they just circle the wagons, keeping everybody else out, and leaving only them in charge. Absolute Power corrupts Absolutely. But now, this time, we want answers.

I think jack lowder was the coronor then. I guess someone should ask him but then again he is not the smartest person to talk t o.he does make a lot of money but he is also a crook. He is so slow in all areas probably with him in charge if the investigation it will never be solved. cowboys sister said he was acting like he was protecting someone because he would not help much or did not have any answers. He just pushed it under the rug.

there's a good lead. this would be up for Mr. Brown to lead the investigation (or anybody willing to make a name for themselves, Ronnie and Josh should both commit to keeping an eye on all high profile cold cases that hasn't been solved yet, and/or one of the Deputies (esp. since come 2011, they'll have to answer to another boss, if he likes them and wants to keep them on... whoever ends up winning).

how about 20 years ago. in the past our law enforcement officials have not been required to have much training, so how could they solve a murder in gallatin county after all most of the murders in gallatin county have never been solved (hope new administration hires well trained people) also, motive, how about life insurance. everyone knows who had that policy. should be top suspect! by the way COWBOY has 5 sisters and 3 brothers (one living) who ALL care about this case beingt solved!

I believe this was investigated by state police not local law.Did they check out the person who claims he got lost in the fog that night? Also, didn't Cowboy claim to see someone around an arson fire right before that? And how many people did he beat on and cut before that? He made some enemies. He was no angel. He had hurt a lot of people himself.

well im his cuz so what if he seen something did he rat this person out no, and i think it should be investigation and i know there was another in g.c. that was a cuz to cowboy and its the same way. but it was about 10 yrs or less and they never hang around each other and yrs different in age . the coroner had to call the uncle and see if they was kin and the uncle said maybe . you probably wouldn't be saying this if u lost a love one this way
