1 The sheriffs office does need more $$ BUT THEY NEED TO USE IT MORE WISELY. There needs to be more employees in the areas that struggle to keep up with the growing Aiken population & growing crime rates. It is nice to have new things but if there isn't enough employees then it's all pointless! |

1 People are so ignorant! We really need public education on what your tax dollars actually go for!! The sheriffs office $ has NOTHING to do with the Roads & Bridges $! There is a budget done by each department EACH YEAR & it has to be detailed out to crossing all t's & dotting all i's!! The budget must first request money for specific areas of needs within that department. It must explain what and why it is needed. Then that budget it taken before County Council & voted upon if more $ is requested than allowed. The council members are the deciding factor if a department gets more $ and it MUST BE USED FOR WHAT IT IS APPROVED FOR! You cannot use equipment $ to hire a new person or use vehicle $ to train a k9 with! Please feel free to contact your county council if you do not like the way $ is spent in local govt bc they are the deciding factor! How about attend a county council meeting on Tuesday nights and educate yourself before making comments about things you are clearly ignorant on! 1 First of all, I own a high risk security company. I have time as a street officer, public safety officer, nuclear officer and security officer. Secondly, Jeff Nations and Russ Ferrera have nothing to do with my campaign, never have and never will. Third, I wish the mindless clones that follow Mike could look at the two of us , compare qualifications, what we have accomplished in our lives and make an informed decision from there. Fourth, there is nothing wrong with being dedicated to a candidate; however you insult me and spread rumors against me. The same rumors that you scream about when someone says something about Mike. Fifth, I have no hard feelings towards Mike. I feel that I am better qualified for the job. I ask you to put on your blinders and look at experience, education and military service, then I want you to ask yourself if the two of us came to you for a job, who would you give it to ? 1 First of all, the ACSO has never put a car on the road that was ten years old and to the best of my knowledge, a responding vehicle has never broken down. It is inevitable that patrol cars must be replaced. They are not cheap; however the sheriff must be a good steward of the tax payers dollar. He can not continually go to the county council and ask for a constant flow of new cars. My program of refurbishing (learned it in the military) can extend a vehicles life for several years without violating safety standards. If I low ball this at 40 cars on a two year rotation, I can save the county taxpayer 500,000 dollars every two years. This plan to refurbish is not rocket science, but more on the common sense level. I understand budgets. In the military you must make a 1 year, 3 year and 5 year budget. If you run out of money......well that's tough. This is where refurbishing comes into play. If we could stop the hatred and name calling long enough to simply look at my programs and qualifications, the choice for sheriff would be easy and logical. Jim Vause |

1 I have made mention of how we can be better stewards of the tax dollar. 1. Refurbishing of vehicles could save .5 million every 2 years. 2. Rebuild our Reserve Officer program. This would double officers on the street at NO cost to the taxpayer. 3. Utilize the constable program to its fullest. This frees up more officers and also adds boots on the ground at No cost to the taxpayers. 4. Additional money will not reduce the rate of crime. Better leadership and new programs will. Lets stop the hatred and name calling. Look at the best qualified person and vote. Personally, I think I am the better candidate because of my qualifications. Has anyone reading this compared the rise in crime to the rise in budget over the last 8 years ? Use refurbishing, new crime reduction programs, reform the reserve program, use the constable program, pin point crime tactics, saturation patrols and high tech surveillance techniques. 1 Well Andy, that person would be me. The corruption out of Columbia has crushed many dreams but it will take a lot more than "good old boy" corruption to stop me. I may not win but at least I can say I tried. Mike has ten times more money than I do, but I have ten times more heart. I will continue to go to the people, shake hands and ask them to write my name in for the November 6th election. If people could put away their hatred , insults and sign stealing long to look at the issues and the candidates qualifications for the job, the choice would be a clear one. One of Mikes guys told me that military service "didn't count". I was told that three of my four areas of law enforcement "didn't count". I was told that my education in Criminal Justice "didn't count". He told me that the only thing that counted was that this was Hunt Country. Really ? That's it. Wow......what an informed voter.
