Actually all PUBLIC schools DO publish the salaries of everyone-- teachers, principals, superintendents etc. Just go on the school website and look at the school board minutes. Because public schools are funded by public monies salaries are public knowledge. so if people wanted they can go to the school board minutes
and see how much every employee of the school makes..
nothing is "hidden"
How naive of you Liz.
the district only gives the salary.
Did you know on top of his salary, he got paid health care for his adult children?
do you know how many Supt's get housing?
almost all get cars.
moving expenses,

Could someone explain what happens with the circuit court judge who dismissed this case only to have the state supreme court UNANIMOUSLY declare the school district in the wrong on this issue? It's kind of scary that judges are doing this.

Superintendents also negotiate with the school board to be paid in full for each sick day they do not use. This is usually about 1000 dollars per sick day. Sometimes the board gives them 90 days to start and then around 15 days per year. This could add up to over a hundred thousand dollars at retirement. They also receive conferences budget of several thousand dollars per year. (Mini vacation with the spouse.) Hotel allowance if they need to work late. Consulting in other districts on school district time. Some of the perks never found out by the taxpayer and not included in the base salary

It is about time! Our School Board was wrong to withhold the contract under a proper FOIA request. Once we see the contract, I think we will find out why they wanted it secret -- too many perks paid to Catalani. The School Board Members need to remember that highly compensated administrators don't make a good school system -- good administrators prudently supervising good teachers who work with involved parents is what makes a school system work. Administrator pay (and that of many teachers in District 200) are too high for what we (the taxpayers) receive in return. I know fiscal common sense is no longer favored in this country, but I would welcome its return.

Daily Horoscope for January 5

Cancer

You've had enough time to yourself lately. This is a day to focus on family, with all the good and bad that that brings. Crabs would much rather be at the top of the tree than down near the roots, but that's life. You might be smart when it comes to matters of the heart, but you don't know it all quite yet.
