Just saw this after googling Shaholli's name. They just announced he's not sane enough for trial. I'm calling bullshit on that one, but anyway... What would you like to know? I live nearby, witnessed the mansion's construction, spent a lot of time fighting the city on allowing the monstrosity to be built.

I would think a person must be insane to have built it. Just wondered if anyone knew the nutjob.

I saw that house while riding my bike and I wondered why the city would allow that to be built in that neighborhood. It certainly did not fit in with the other homes. I did not know that this was the house where the shooting was at!

I never actually spoke to them. I kicked up a helluva stink with the city about the construction, because the house didn't fit in the neighborhood. The folks down at the city actually told me to back off. Someone pulled some strings to get it approved, I'm sure. It all boils down to someone getting money, I'd guess.

The shooting was on Recreation street, it was the alleged shooter that lived on Hoffman. I know what I've heard about the circumstances around the shooting, but I don't know if any of it is fact.

In any case, the house is up for sale, I've walked through it. Hell, I wouldn't even be able to afford the taxes, utilities or upkeep on it, even at the low sale price, which I thought was about 249K.

There used to be an 850 sq. ft. house on that double lot, they supposedly left one existing wall up, which makes it technically an "addition", according to the city. I don't see an existing wall. The city also says it's not over 30 ft. to the roof peak from "grade". It looked like more than 30 ft to me. When I asked where exactly "grade" was, the city said they were the ones who determine that.

How convenient. Anything over that height would have been a zoning variance, which would have to have been put up for a vote to anyone living within 500 feet, but it was all just granted to them, as was the driveway that goes from Waterloo to Hoffman, which was also a variance to code. I also understand it's one of only two residential structures in the Shores that have a door from the outside to the basement, and the other was actually grandfathered in because it was built so long ago. Now we're stuck with this monstrosity. Probably it will end up as a group home or something. Incredible.

I knew Victor and he was a very nice man.. He lost his wife which was his life, lost the house and then the business he worked at..
Bottom line is he snapped.
The Government should send him back to Albania instead of tax payers keeping him here to evaluate him.

Like I said, I don't know the circumstances surrounding his actions. Still, for me it was too close to home, nice guy or not. If he did what they said he did, it was extreme, and IMO, cold and hardcore. It's in the hands of the justice system now. Tragic. I believe it was his daughter in law's brother that was killed.

The house was selling for $209,900 in foreclosure but is no longer for sale. The man's name is engraved in a big address plaque at the entrance, that should be worth something (surprised it hasn't disappeared).

I don't know what the story is over there anymore. I saw a white handyman's van parked there for an hour or so yesterday, and not much more than a few cars pulling through the circle driveway over the past few weeks, probably sightseers. I was kinda hoping for maybe an unreported firework mishap... But there it still stands... just a reminder that the neighbors' rights can be trumped by greased palms.

This is too bad to happen to the viktor family. They were good people.I don't think they greased any palms they just follow our weak a-- laws.I know them, their business, their family and the house. I tell you what someone is going to get a great well built house.it may not match the neighbor hood but, just as justice will deal with Vik. They build the house within our system. I am sorry the family that lost a love one but, honest I think the man JUST SNAPPED.

The neighbors tell me it's been sold to a guy who bought it as an "investment". Don't know the price. This morning there were cops all over it at 4:30 am, I guess they'd had a B&E there recently and some damage was done. There's been traffic in and out of there during the day, probably the owner and contractors fixing the damage from the break-in. Problems, problems, problems...

I figured it would be turned into some sort of group home, which I'm sure is still possible. I just wish the people who okayed it lived next to it, the bastards.
