I'm not defending the trooper in any way. What he did was wrong, and he'll be charged accordingly. Question though to all of the people commenting here. Have any of you ever been legally drunk and driven a vehicle? A person's occupation doesn't mean "they should know better." We all should know better, but unfortunately repeatedly make errors in judgement. Sometimes they cost us, or others, sometimes they don't. Perhaps look within ourselves before we judge another. Judging another person's poor judgement does not cover up our own times of poor judgement. I, myself, would be a hypocrite to judge the trooper.

one of the two speeding officers were fired from their job, so i would hardly say that is a slap on the wrist

Was that the one that is facing fraud charges on the BWC claim. I don't think he got fired because of his speeding ... he got fired because of the embarrassment he cause the police department. If he had gotten fired for the speeding don't you think both cops would have gotten fired.

The one fired was from the Gahanna Police Department. There were 3 motorcycles speeding that day. Only two speeders were identified. The union kept Highsmith's job for him. IMHO he should have been fired also. The state patrol standards and accountability are lower than Gahanna's PD. We could balance the budget by ridding the state of the patrol and diverting the money to the local PD and sheriffs where there is some accountability to the taxpayers paying their salaries.

He made a bad decision, of drinking and driving. What does MADD got to do with this, do you think all those women don't ever drink!!!!!!

MADD is the one that honored him for his arrest record for getting drunk drivers off the road. And yes I think some of them do drink just like the cop did ... I just hope they make a better decision before they get behind the wheel of a car.

You say he made a bad decision ... he did ... he choose to get behind the wheel of a car while intoxicated. He should have called somebody to come and get him (Like a Cab).

He is just lucky they pulled him over when they did ... who's to say what could have happened.(Wreck and hurt/kill someone or himself)

Was he the Super Trooper you'd always hear about on Rt. 30? Those in Allen Co know what I'm talking about...

So post can be deleted off here? Huh I wonder who did that. Doesnt change the fact the Gallia-Meigs Highway Patrol Post Commander drives drunk. Delete posts or call in your favors it wont change a thing when you are driving drunk & hurt someone or kill them!

I seen the blog report on the commander of that station earlier today & its gone. We are hoping that this guy gets picked up for DWI soon or disappears as quick as the blog did!! Criminal no doubt!

I bet the liquor he was drinking came from the evidence locker!

Sad really! Guess he doesn't really believe in what he preaches!
