Walnut Grove OUT of Control !!

I wanted to come visit Walnut Grove,( my mothers birth town, and my fathers current town ) for my vacation this year, I was born in Tracy and had a family reunion to get to that weekend.The laura Ingalls wilder pageant was going on and alot of people were in the area. I got to see cousins I hadn't seen in 20 years, Aunts, Uncles and a vast aray of others. I was looking forward to having a good time. Many relatives gathered at my fathers house in walnut grove and we ate till our hearts contents, visited, played yard games, and caught up on history. We decided to visit a local tavern downtown , where as the help was fabulous and the locals were anything but, Drunk and obnoxius women falling around the bar trying to pick fights with the ladies in our party,when asked if someone would call the police, one of the offesive local women shouted!! " GO ahead I *&^%*ing him " . I thought to myself, How can such a small , all american town, have such a band of rukus locals who can get away with anything? What had become of the town my mother was born in, and what is society coming too. Later , that evening after retiring to my fathers house, The police finally show up, Some newby fresh out of School. Telling me he should arrest me because of numerous complaints throughout the village, that I was being loud, I asserted myself and told him of the actual events that occured in the tavern and when i stated to him that the gal he was dating was being nasty to us for no reason, he claimed I was questioning his Integrity as an officer, When i responded that cleary i was just telling him that When we asked for the police to be called, they were not, and when his girlfreind left the bar we were elated, Until she returned with him side by side,,Corrupt or complicated, I guess alot of people would see that as normal small town justice, but I for one am not Humored. I found it left a bad taste in my mouth and I also feel people should know about how the laws are skewed for some.

This is the truth----------I was present when the kids{youngest is 36 years old}, returned home,followed by the young police officer{just out of POST school, and hired as chief about 3 months ago. I got up out of bed after hearing some conversation, arguing and seeing the police car in my yard. I went to my garage,where the activity was and listened to the kids trying to explain what was going on. The policeman appeared to listen,but still was putting the blame on my kids.
My thoughts are that he was trying to save face with his lady friends by picking on my kids and thier company, because they were from out of state, and out of the area, and were only going to be here for a day or two. He even banned them from the local bar and grill for the day of Saturday. I have an issue with that also. I don;t see how he can do that since the bar manager did not ask for it. It would be a different if they had been trying to start a fight or were out of line, but it was the local girls who started the whole thing. NOT MUCH INTEGRITY IN OUR LOCAL POLICE FORCE..........

Remind me to stay clear of Walnut Grove!! Don't need any young smart-alec Rambos hassling me. Tracy may be a better place to go.

I am very sorry to hear that htis happened to you. However, I would like you to know that it doesn't happen to visiting people. I live in this community. Two years ago on the fourth of July, my purse was stolen from the local campground. The police was notified and he really didn't try and help me , I was able to find out who stole my purse because of where they charged my credit cards ( booze and cigarettes). The next morning I saw the guy who stole my purse carrying the many carton of cigarettes out to his car. My husband pulled into the parking lot and we confronted him -- begging him to please return the purse. I told him he was a worthless piece of s--t. That is all I said other than begging him to please return the digital camera -- he could have themoney etc. he kept denying it and them crabbed my arms, pushed me up against the wall and pushed me down. I ended up with a very badly bruised foot, both arms and back. I went right to the police and he ended up pressing charges ( the county) for disorderly conduct ( because i said the piece of s--t) The guy got nothing. The girlfiend ended up doing the time for the crime ( credit card fraud) but other than that nothing happened to this guy. I ended up with 450.00 ER bill, 350.00 fine for disorderly conduct (using fowl language -- one word) digital camera with all of our vactation pictures, 200.00 cash that my father sent for my children b-day presents. Oh and the great part of this deal, is the police did tell me they had been watching this guy because the week before they caught him stealing little girls underwear from the local pool. I agree the police are VERY young, inexperienced, defensive, paranoid that everyone is questioning their authority, etc. etc. We stay away from town as much as possible. My kids are scared more of the police than anyone else. The older of my kids have said they didn't help me whenI was in trouble -- why would they trust the police to help then if needed. The best part also was that the police officer said to me " I am not very happy that you just added four hours of paper work onto my fourth of July weekend." That was his first comment when I came and complained of the assault.
So- from the people in the community who are normal, civilized, friendly, people -- I would like to apologized for the rudeness of some in our community.

I do agree with the police force being a little young, but by any means we should all no integregate their athority. But, the whole situation mentioned above sounds like some people from larger cities think they can just come down and own a small town, is way out of the question. They need to realize that this is not their local Wisconsin town where they think they might run shit. This is Walnut Grove and if you don't know anyone they quit thinking you own this town. GET THE HELL OUT!

It would Appear to me you do not FULLY understand what this situation is referring to.
It IS in Fact : A Complaint about the Misuse Of Authority,(Authority Skewed by Bias Judgement) If YOU were present at these Events, Then you would KNOW the facts, About Authority working for Ones Personal Use, Not Public, But I tell ya what, that is not where I want my Tax money going....How About you America? Do You want to keep paying more and more for unregulated enforcement,unqualified employees of the state or locality in which you reside. Get a Grip and watch what is happening around you.Others That may not take heart in this..Someday you will HAVE to come clean and admit where YOU went wrong. No hard feelings just sorry your not brighter.

I have lived here in walnut Grove all my life and I can not believe the abuse we allow the police chief to do. He runs with a bad crowd he is constantly drinking and now on several occasions several citizens have seen him drinking and driving, I can not believe that our small township continues to allow him to protect us. He doesn't even protect us half the time he is sitting on HWY 14 talking to his girlfriend or at her house. He shows on his time card he should be on duty but does not even work his whole shift. This community needs to step up and correct the action he is doing. I dont feel safe here and I know several other citizens dont either

I don't see how any of this can be true how can it be the town cops spend all their time driving around in the country

small towners are extemely jealous of new comers,the local saloon is all these folks have to call their own. the barflys dont want anything new in their tiny little worlds.theyre scared!!let them quiver in their own fright. they are so busy kissing ass on all the other locals the only ones left for them to pick on is out of towners.I guess walnut grove is where the phrase "small town mentality" was born.
