Volunteer Fire Department Placed On Probation

Funny since conaway got thrown out.....things get hot, Hello! The people who try to give their time to help others, time to train, Never get a Thank you........

Sounds strange to me. How does Mr. Dearmin know so much about the fire calls addressed by the Fire Dept. The Fire Dept. doesn't fall under his authority but he seems to know all about it. Is this another attempt by Mr. Dearmin and Mr. Alley to get paid firefighters? My guess says YES!

Hey, this sounds like normalcy for Stokes County! Can never move forward because of bad decisions in the past! Hey, who knows, before long we may be back to bucket brigades for the whole county!

I thought that 16 out of the 17 calls were while barry was Chief. Is is not correct?

No this was not while Barry was chief. It was while TOMMY BALL was the chief.

Then why is the department put on Probation now since TB is no longer chief?

I think this is why we need a Paid fireman... So many people that volunteer no longer work in town so they can respond quickly! We need fire protection and all the nice equipment can not provide it without man power..I am proud of all the men that respond and the work that they do, but during work hours they just can not respond..

Maybe they could have a drive to find more volunteer's.. but paid firemen would be nice to be ready at a moments notice... would also be nice to help get our homeowners Ins. rates lower..
After all the town boards have repeatably been trying to get the Rating s lowered.. Even gave BC significant amounts of money to buy software and to consult with somebody that was going to help get things tested and in order to achieve the lower rating, but it never happened.. Now it looks like we will have to wait for at least another year..

It bothers me that it was not the fire department that didn't send enough volunteer's but the fact that they were Pre-occupied with work schedules... So we need more volunteer's and paid fireman to work together to rectify the problem.. in the mean time thank goodness for neighboring departments..

Just like most individuals you take direct offense to what other people say. The point is, decisions that people make today affect what happens tomorrow and next week, next month, or even years from now! When making a decision about tomorrow, one needs to look at the whole picture and not whats on one persons agenda today! So this is very common in Stokes County! I mean, a 300 plus thousand dollar expense in a rescue truck is really gonna help things isn't it? Those are decisions that Im reffering to!

Because the state looked at the records why TB was the chief. They looked at the 2010 records. So now you have a chief that is fence rider and out for his on good. 6 feet of BS is all he is. Maybe he should just ride in the Hall truck and leave the fire dept alone.

sounds like you have a axe to grind or had your toes stepped on.. People should all do their part and not be so ready to try to place blame.... if that is done then nothing will ever be any better for the department..... The citizens really do get sick and tired of hearing all the back stabbing comments...
I was awake and heard all that was going on at the fire last night and it sounded like everybody was really working together well.. I was proud of them..

Yes I am back. Its about time they shut this fire dept. down. Look at who is chief and who is the town manager. Told you all a long time ago to get that rat out of office down there and as far as the fire dept., I told you all to make it a paid fire dept. and the city will not have these problems that its having. This is the price the community has to pay now. Take it like it is or move or take other peoples advice..LOL OUT.

Stolen Ipods? You talking about the situation at the town hall when your husband and the police force bought those ipods? I heard about that. It just puzzles me why they all did not get charged for buying the stolen goods, not knowing that they were stolen to begin with. But you got the wrong person to be asking if I sold any stolen Ipods. You better be digging elsewhere if you trying to find answers about someone else.

You have no idea of who I am. And you sit here and say everyone is getting sick of my hatred I have for this town? Last I checked there is quite a few people in this town that really hates it here because of a big lack of nothing for the youth to do and the lack of jobs security. Just not everyone gets on Topix to spew what they have to say. And quite a few probably dont know about this site. So you cant sit and say that everyone is tired of what i spew, they just cant stand the truth about walnut cove. Tell me, what is the most exciting thing to do in walnut cove without leaving the city limits? Cant go bowling, cant go and watch a movie, cant go shopping for clothing (and you cant use family dollar and dollar general cause they sell the same things). Why cant you do all this? Cause there is no option to do it, none of these are in walnut cove. Could it be? Yes, but everyone is all about places to eat. Theres enough resturants in this town to supply 3 cities. Oh, and they make it more interesting for the crack heads by bringing a pawn shop for them to steal more peoples stuff and go pawn it for drug money. Does not matter if they put it across from the police station. And please dont tell me that it was put there to try and catch the bad guys. When you can tell me why these things are not available in walnut cove then you will not hear my mouth anymore. Yea, do you want to make 8.00 hour if they pay that? for hundreds of hours of training........(these people - at the fire dept) want to help others. And they do help others......What have you done latley? Come on - Lets say Thank You is that so hard to do?

A Person Who Cares.... I want to say thank you for the pat on the back. Its not every day any of us at the fd get that. For some reason people look at us as bad guys. That's not the case. I will be willing to bet you if every fd in stokes county was looked at we would all be on probation. Come on people we do our best we all have family and lives just like you. I would invite everyone who bad months us to join and just see what its all about. Once you realize all the politics involved along with all the state rules and regulations I bet none of you would last. As for the non responses that put us on probation. The finger can't be pointed at any one person its the whole departments fault. Would a paid person fix this?? NO you better find the money for four guys 8-5. Why four because in order for the call to be considered answered by the state there must be A truck and four firefighters there. So if you hire only one you are still hoping three more guys show up and if they don't you just wasted tax payers dollars. My suggestion is for everyone to turn their negative energy into positive and come help us out. Sometime a simple thank you or a kind word can motivate people. I am positive if the negative words stop and positive starts you will see a fd pull together and make things happen..
