Military aircraft north of I-10

Does anyone live north of I-10 and have noticed military aircraft flying by between the times of 7:30 and 8 pm lately? I say military because they fly low and slow and are totally silent. From far away their lights are abnormally bright too. Just wondering if Im not the only one thinking it strange. And if anyones know why please do tell.

I thought they were helicopters flying too high to hear. They seem to fly from the west to the northeast?

My wife and I just drove back to Houston from Baytown and were amazed and a little freaked out at all the helicopters (as many as 20 at once) in the sky. We also noticed several planes, some very large and all with very bright lights. I has to be some type of military training or patrol for the chemical plants. We had to to google it to see what the heck was going on.
