Rod does an outstanding job making things happen for the benefit of Junction City and its citizens. I can not imagine the city without his dedication and expertise.

You get what you pay for. You can blame Rod but with his salary there isn't too many people that wouldn't have done what they were told in his position. He works for the commissioners, according to his job description. He should have spoken up more but I blame the five in charge.

If you paid attention or know what has been going on then you would understand how it works. Here is the way it goes. The commissioners do what Barnes said because they don’t know any better and believe he knows what he is doing. All of these big development agreements are done by Barnes and can be very complex. They are put into a meeting packet sometimes 4 inches thick. They are then given if lucky to the commissioners Monday night for the next days meeting. Barnes tells them what it is and to vote for it. Mick’s job for Barnes has always been to make sure all the commissioners are on board. Some times like when they know Taylor is not on board they will make sure to have that idem come up when he can’t be there. It has all been Rod’s plan he gambled big and lost. Your commission has been following Barnes.

I think mr barnes has done a good job in his post. I hve been around here a long time Junction City did nothing for almost four decades. Under barnes this city is moving forward and moving forward in alot of positive ways! Their has not been one city manager that has worked as hard as mr barnes to get thing moving. For too long this community did nothing and watched as other communities did things that we could only dream of. Mr barnes has vision and leadership skills that past city managers did not have. It does take money to grow a business or a town. I for one thank mr banes for his contribution to a better Junction City.

You have people that don’t understand that JC can’t make it with $200,000,000.00 in debit. As a matter of fact they think it is great want to do more. Well you cant because you cant borrow any more money Do you know Manhattan with all it has as far as tax base owes far less like $40,000,000.00. You guys crack me up join the real world

I am thinking someone is getting paid to say this stuff about Rod Barnes...Everyone involved in this scandal that is plaguing our city is an idiot and has proven it over and over and that includes the city manager. I am assuming these people posting such high praises are not part of the people that have to pay this 200 million debt off.

I am seriously curious as to what people are seeing that is so great about him as our city manager

He showed great leadership in getting the Commissioners to approve $200,000,000.00 in a town with a population of 18,000.00

You are so right, JC is in dire straits with $200 Million in debt; but lets put the blame where it belongs: THE COMMISSIONERS WERE IN CHARGE AND MOST OF THE TIME ALL FIVE VOTED AFFIRMATIVE. If this is a case of not familiarizing themselves with the information packet, the fault is with the commissioners not Mr. Barnes.(Sounds like shades of Congress and Senate not reading the bill before passing it, doesn't it?) Mr. Barnes is an employee of the city and answers to the Commission. If he presents items that are not viable the Commission must make the decision to disapprove; obviously they didn't so the blame is on them. I have lived here for many years and the city looks better than it ever has, and there actually are more services available, although not everyone can be pleased all the time. And if you don't patronize your own town, don't be surprised if the businesses cannot survive. Yes, taxes are high, but the more money you spent locally, the better for your taxes to help pay off debt. Support your local merchants.

Your commission has been following Barnes. Perhaps you haven't paid too much attention either? It only takes three commissioner to pass an item, so it really would not have mattered if Mr. Taylor was there to object or not. As recent history has unfolded the motivation for Mr. Wunder to get all favorable votes came from the bribes he allegedly took, lets be clear about that. Surely the commissioners do not appreciate your thought of having been told how to vote. If there were irregularities they will surely come out. Mr. Wunder is not going down by himself if others were involved.

I am seriously curious as to what people are seeing that is so great about him as our city manager Well it must be things that everyone really needs: lets see, a leaking pond by I70, a great looking walkway by the airport, circle traffic things at connection to I70 in two locations, lots of Specials (what the heck is so special about this), and oh yeah, JC taxpayers get to pay the tab. Good time not to be a JC taxpayer. The JC conspiracy continues!

Man, if only to get a rebate check for this amount; sorry, I digress. Regardless, too much too soon for JC?

Sorry to disappoint you, but the voting public is at fault here. The commissioners were voted in regardless of who voted them in. Did the JC voters require a town hall meeting with their representatives before any major vote took place. If we are the people who formed this perfect union, we need to make changes so that the commissioners really know who they work for, YOU; they answer to YOU.
