RE: We must curtail insurance firms

The impediment to adequate health care has been PROVEN to be a single payer govt. run health care system! Our cancer survival rates are much higher than any country on a govt. run system. We still try to save lives before trying to save a dollar. On a rationed care system, if it`s too expensive to save your life, if you`re deemed too old by some bureaucrat, not you or your doctor, you will be denied care. It`s simply cost efficient. The govt. will have a stranglehold on you and there won`t be anything you can do about it. NO THANK YOU! There are far better solutions to reforming health care than a govt. run system. My life is far too important to trust its well being to the govt. If you haven`t noticed, they`ve failed at just about every program they`ve put out there!

Sgt. Fernandez: Vietnam was then, these two wars are now. 1970 isn't 2009, but what has the USA learned?
I don't want to rain on your parade, but Iraq was a collossal blunder and Afghanistan is poised to be worse than Vietnam. Enjoy the day.

John,

Do you even know what is in this new HC bill that they are trying to ram down our throats? Have you read it? Do you know the end cost to the citizens?
Do you know anything about payment to the Drs. Or lack there of?
Why do you think it is fair for everyone, including those happy with their Drs. and Ins. companies to have to change to a gov't system.
Did you not know that the head Dr. over Canada's systems said theirs is imploding and that the chances of dying from prostate cancer there is over 400% and in England it is over 600%.
Do you think it fair for those that make over $200,000 have to pick up the slack? Or for those same people to have to pay an additional $10,800 a year in taxes?
They keep pushing the wrong numbers out there and that is wrong. There are only about 10-12 million that truly cannot afford it. The others have opted out for whatever reason and I don't think it is fair to ask any American to pay for illegals insurance.
Do you think it is fair to TELL all Americans what kind and how much insurance the WILL have?
Sorry, I still believe in the Constitution and no where does it say the gov't has the right to tell us what to do or what to have.
If you love Socialistic medicine so much, perhaps you should transfer to Canada or the UK.
This is just the first step in total governmental takeover of all our rights.
If it is so important to cover the 10 million that truly need insurance, fine,
let them find the money in the corruption of medicare and medicaid and leave those happy alone.
Me, I'll take my chances on the American system that has been in place many many years.
And yes, I have family members in HC.
They say this new HC bill sucks.
Being a nurse, I find it hard that you will be okay with rationed HC and a waiting list of up to 6 months to get needed tests. That you think the same amount of Drs. are going to be able to handle the additonal load put on the system.
That since the AMA has gone so far left, that only 17% of the Drs. are AMA members now.
I find it hard to believe that you think all of this is okay, but if that is the case, I am certainly happy you will never be my nurse.

"I strongly support single-payer health care as the only viable fix for our society."

I see John, so we can all be equal and all receive sub standard care while bankrupting the entire country?

Yes, Iraq was a terrible mistake, a war our country should never have started. And we should learn from the Russians and British and get out of Afghanistan. Nation building is not the solution, especially if you have to go to bed with the Taliban, al Qaida, war lords, opium dealers. We've lost too many soldiers already, and we're throwing our hard-earned money down a rat hole. Don't confuse honoring our veterans of all wars with some silly "logic" for staying in Iraq and Afghanistan. Write to Obama and tell him to get us out of there. Remember Vietnam.

Chief Fernandez, great letter. Only those that have and currently wear the uniform understand your thoughts and meaning. Hawaii 50 has done neither. Your standard arm chair fan yelling from the stands that doesn't understand the game.

Whether it be Federal or State, legislators will start a new program, fund it, and yet fail to fund oversight and enforcement. We hear it all the time, "Medicare and Medicaid are going broke!" The GAO estimates that there is $60 BILLION DOLLARS in Medicare and $30 BILLION DOLLARS in Medicaid fraudlent claims each year. Folks, that's $90 BILLION DOLLARS of you money being paid out. Of course, any program cannot survive paying out $90 BILLION DOLLARS for services the citizens haven't received. Until such time that our legislators fund oversight and enforcement, this waste of taxpayer money will continue and yes, quite possibly bankrupt the program.

Another "Mr. Softee", that likes getting kicked in the mouth and likes it. I've wrote PRES, he's too busy still apologizing to the world and trying to bring the olympics home. Go out and relish on the freedom that i fought for you to have.

Economist John Williams, publisher of ShadowStats.com , estimates that the peak of unemployment in nonfarm unemployment in the Great Depression of the 1930s would, by his methodology, have registered at 34 to 35 percent in 1933.

So, how does the Obama administration get away with reporting the lower unemployment percentage?

Corsi explained that the Clinton administration changed the way BLS calculates unemployment statistics by excluding "discouraged workers," those who had given up looking for a job because there were no jobs to be found.

Since the Clinton years, discouraged workers looking for a job for more than one year are not counted as "unemployed" because they are considered to have dropped out of the labor force.

Sgt. Fernandez asked that we remember and honor our soldiers. He didn't ask for a political argument. Leave that to Code Pink and the other anti-military outfits.
Just be grateful the soldiers are pointing their weapons at the foreign enemy and not at you, like in many countries around the world.
God Bless our troops and God Bless America.

Congratulations Democrats, you ran our educational system into the ground and now you're starting on health care. said J. Donovan III

Amen you are exactly correct. I can't get it thru my mind why those 'certain" guys and gals in DC want to destroy this once great country. What a shame. Our kids and especially our grandkids will not have a country to call their own. They will be part of a huge global network that does not honor what this country used to stand for and how it once gave hope to the world. Why oh why is it being torn down? How long before the Constitution is shredded and hung over the tp rolls in the bathrooms. Our forefathers are watching and crying.

Insurance companies are a drain on the system and an impediment to adequate care. Their profits can only be generated by increased premiums or refusal to pay for direct care

John if you are in Hawaii and a nurse you should know that HMSA and Kaiser are both Non-profit corporations thus they are not in business to make a profit. And even the for profit insursance copanies roeturn on equity is only about 2.2%. So please explain to me how the government can provide more services for less cost.

And it is not 1918 either, but it is the day when Americans commemorate those who have fought for our country, whether or not they agreed with war.

"Non-profit" doesn't mean literally that they do NOT turn a profit.

The average October temperature of 50.8°F was 4.0°F below the 20th Century average and ranked as the 3rd coolest based on preliminary data.

For the nation as a whole, it was the third coolest October on record. The month was marked by an active weather pattern that reinforced unseasonably cold air behind a series of cold fronts. Temperatures were below normal in eight of the nation's nine climate regions, and of the nine, five were much below normal. Only the Southeast climate region had near normal temperatures for October.

Statewide temperatures coincided with the regional values as all but six states had below normal temperatures. Oklahoma had its coolest October on record and ten other states had their top five coolest such months.

Daily Horoscope for December 24

Gemini

It's a busy day and you've got quite enough to do without having to cope with people clamoring for your attention and likely to go into a huff if they don't get it. Is this person feeling neglected because you're busily occupied elsewhere or are there other reasons for their demanding mood? Simply giving them a big hug could make all the difference to their behavior.
