Nowhere do they list the % increase in motorcycle riders during the period. The rider numbers go up, the number of accidents/fatalities usually follow.
Look around while you are out and look at the % of riders wearing helmets? Less than 25%. I'd have to say so. If that's correct then not wearing a helmet improves your odds of surviving a crash, or at least not getting into one in the first place.
Mandatory Motorcycle Safety Foundation courses would be a good thing. The "Rider's Edge" program offered by Harley Davidson is a joke.
Adding a motorcycle awareness program to the automotive license would help.
NC has a very restrictive helmet law. Think they don't have motorcycle fatalities?#8 in the country.
Statistics can be skewed to preent any view you want.
This from one of the less than 25% wearing a helmet.
thinks a helmet law makes sense and will push for one next year..
Maybe he and his "goomba's" should give a cell phone law the same energy.

Ahh, now the bikers throw up the cell phone excuse as a diversion. They always have excuses.

Why do we not want a mandatory helmet law when we have a mandatory seat belt law? Why are helmets a matter of "freedom of choice", but seat belts aren't. I certainly am more protected in a car or truck than I would be on a motorcycle. Where's the common sense?

More mandatory biker training is the way to go. Preferably in Idaho, in May, for several months.

Hopefully Brandon will be there, learning something called respect! It is my opinion that cagers need to learn to share the road with bikers. Maybe a safety course for drivers to learn about motorcycles would be on the agenda!

We shouldn't have to legislate for stupidity. Should there be a seat belt/helmet law??? No. Should people with common sense wear seat belts and helmets??? Yes. If you want to bust your skull open on the street....fine. I saw "Thin The Heard". Let's consintrate on something important.

Not a diversion where I live, the Republic of NJ has had it since the 60's, way before the almighty cell phone.

Anyway you see it, The stupid cagers buy me a new bike everytime they pull out in front of me. Hell, I like cell phones and the locals that think they own the roads, and I want to thank my helmet that allows me to tell all the idiots that hate bikers, that we harley riders will still ride in their self regulated bike free world.

What goes around comes around… you will remember your insensitive comments when some tragedy happens in your life. And, you will wonder… did fate bring tragedy to your life because you are such a horrible human being? I pray for the souls of the haters who are happy to see someone die for riding a motorcycle.
