Apocalypse in Just a Few Months More

Full story: Mail & Guardian

So it's Apocalypse In Just a Few Months More -- this week California-based prophet of doom Harold Camping rescheduled the end of the world to October 21 after going to ground when his May 21 forecast bombed out to global guffaws.

UL, i wouldn't put much stock in anything he says.

He is a charelatan and and a false prophet. He frankly should be thrown in jail.

Just my thought on it.

So, in your opinion, do you think that the writer of this article, given the fact that the Witnesses have never said anything about a 6,000 year rapture, has a clue what he is talking about?

Very little he said about Jehovah's Witnesses is particularly accurate. I should imagine the same is true of everything else he wrote.

It is really sad that people still put faith in these charletans....Now he has delayed it by 5 months so as to get more money. People still believe... Unblelivable!

Like Jesus said "Sheep without a shepard"

I am not a JW. However, the JW's have never put a precise date on anything.

Yes, i'm surte that people will now post about the 1975 nonsense. However, that was a misunderstanding.

Harold "the con" Camping has deliberately mislead people. One man in NY even lost his 140,000 life savings . He was just one of many who put faith in this fool.

HE will have to face divine Justice when Babylon falls.

Harold Camping is a classic example of a false prophet. Watchtower even agrees with me on this point.

See Oct. 8, 1968 Awake: "True, there have been those in times past who predicted an 'end to the world' even announcing a specific date...The end did not come. They were guilty of false prophesying."

RIGHT! I forgot that. Silly ME). And where does the imfo they research come from.??? The fact is .. an it IS proveable.. they.. like many others who cronicly try to second guess GOD.. and go beyond the words that he has written.. Will.. ALWAYS.. come out WRONG.. WHY? because they have no Heavenly backing on disobeying the word of GOD. And when one checks the so called worldly source that they sniped their info from.. like their use of the scriptures..they have taken only the part that fits their mind set.. I don't have to wonder ..why God..told us to check what is said ..our own selves.

The reporter erroneously attributes the "supposed" 1975 outlook (which the WTS never pointed to) to the future. He definately did not do his homework.

IMO, unlisted believes everything bad said about Witnesses.

Perhaps the poster is referring to this statement from "Our Kingdom Ministry" (March 1968, p. 4):

"Just think, brothers, there are only about ninety months left before 6,000 years of mans existence on earth is completed...The majority of people living today will probably be alive when Armageddon breaks out, and there are no resurrection hopes for those who are destroyed then. So, now more than ever, it is vital not to ignore that spirit of wanting to do more."

And then there was this statement in the "Kingdom Ministry" a few years later (May 1974, p. 3):

"Reports are heard of brothers selling their homes and property and planning to finish out the rest of their days in this old system in the pioneer service. Certainly this is a fine way to spend the short time remaining before the wicked world's end."

Also, this statement from "Awake" (Nov. 8, 1974, p. 8):

"Today there is a great crowd of people who are confident that a destruction of even greater magnitude is now imminent. The evidence is that Jesus' prophecy will shortly have a major fulfillment, upon this entire system of things. This has been a major factor in influencing many couples to decide not to have children at this time."
