Should Glenn Marshall Elementary Be RE-NAMED?

I agree with you Jimmie D, we shouldn't be reminded every day we drive to work, and i'm sure some if not most of the parents are sick of being reminded of Mr. Suicide everytime they are at school with their kids.

Suicide the right way to go out of this world, live like the devil and when it catches up with you go off and kill yourself. Now that is what i'm talkin' about. That's exactly what the kids need to be told. What is wrong with the people at the school board, don't they care about what message this sends out?????

this is what the staff say," you f up you move up".anyone caught having questionable interaction with a student, is sent to the MCBOED, to serve out thier time, until retirement. more money, no responsibility, no accountability, that is how the super and board do it. Also, the double-dippers make a small fortune, retire then coming back to work, thier income doubles.the super says this saves the county money,BS!mr.marshall did not start this practice, he just kept it going. he was the go to guy.i am not one to speak ill, of the dead, but i make an exception in his case, what a self-centered, low life!

An audit is done ANYTIME anyone dies/retires/leaves that has handled money. For example: if a school secretary retires there is an audit, if a principal retires there is an audit of their school, this is standard practice statewide. The fact that you do not know this is an indication of how little people really know about the required legal workings of a schools system. Board members leaving: if you will recall John Lackey was quoted in the Richmond Register that by 2014 you would not be able to beg anyone to run for the board. My GUESS is those leaving are weary with the agruing and fussing over every detail and they got very little to do it anyway. So unless you want to be eaten alive it is not a place to be. I don't know much of the rest of your questions but I don't think there is one prayer of the name being changed. It was a mistake as others have said to name it after a living person but it is done and I don't see a change coming.

Lack of transparency is a driving force behind suspicion. While it may be no wonder board members want out it should be noted that they did ask for the job. Indeed, why would anybody do that? Maybe there will be at some time a very nice, neat accounting that finds no irregularities at all. The lack of timely communication with the public as well as apparent inactivity by the board rests squarely upon those good citizens.

Leaving the name certainly underscores the permanence of suicide and it's effects upon others. Mr. Marshall certainly cannot come back and those left behind cannot change what is done.

I think we should all call the MADISON Co. Board of Education & ask if they will make a public announcement about all this gossp. Clear it up with a yea or nay. How do they sit back & watch the name of the school & board being run into the ground without clearing it up. Makes them look suspicious. Summer would be the perfect time to remame the school& for God's sake move on.

The Request was made to bring in a third party source to verify the past years account of finances.... approximately within (if I remember correctly) the next two-three weeks, the suicide occurred, and then with in a couple more weeks another board member resigns....It Just Seemed strange the order or occurrances.
Yes audit are done as you said, but this was not because anyone quit, died, retired it was requested because of problems that had arisen.
So the fact is I do know more than you think I do Smart-Ass....

Why are you so rude in a public forum that I think is to allow for everyone to have their opinion expressed? Again, every person that leaves an office whether of their death, retirement or forced the state requires an audit. It is done EVERY time and that is not an option. Find any retired principal or secretary or any one and ask the next person that assumes that position if there was not a complete audit before the next person comes on the scene.

Look back at your response and the difference in the way you respond to people and the way others respond. I wonder if your anger and bitterness have served you well. My guess is it has not. Again, just my opinion.

I'm so sick & tired of seeing that name glenn marshall, and being reminded every day I pass the signs @ the school that our school board approved of suicide and promotes children to grow up with the impression that suicide is okay. lives anyway you want to, and if things get tough or you get caught in trouble just blow your brains out, its quick, painless, and the rest of the family and people can deal with your old problems.
