I got better with him and I am still alive and kicking. Alot of doctors have lost patients thru no fault of thiers and yes there are bad doctors I just do not feel he falls into the later catagory. I have years of evperience with him where alot of these angry and loud mouth people do not even know him and are going by rumors, word of mouth, and accusations, not facts. all I can say to you is reaserch all sides and make a intelligient decision of what kind of doctor you think he was. I have respect for people like you that is willing to find out facts and then decide, no matter what side you find yourself on you, at least took the time to investigate all. not just fan your mouth out of emotions gone wild without facts!!!!!!!!!! thank you I love how you blame the patients for not caring out proper instructions... Based on this logic, you could argue that a "rape victim should not have been wearing such a short skirt" that she brought upon herself... Not to insult your intelligence, but no one other than a medically trained expert should have that responsibility of monitoring narcotic consumption without complete supervision... I feel what Dr. Plotnick did was so negligent that he should actuallly serve time in JAIL.... The way a bartender who serves alcohol to an intoxicated patron and then the patron drives away killing an innocent person... A reasonable Doctor would tell you that you do not put the "fox in charge of the hen house".... Dr. Plotnick never should have allowed any patients to determine what works and what does not, et alia self medicating... This man should have criminal charges brought against him... It is an open and shut case... Please defend how one can violate the law and not serve time....

It obvious that the armchair doctors who criticize any doctor about prescribing pain medication have never suffered any type of prolonged physical pain. Someday, their day will come because everyone gets old, if they are lucky. I hope they have to suffer for lack of pain medications then they will know the truth.

To all of you warp and demented people who have attacked Dr. Plotnick's character, medical knowledge, and skills as a pain management physician, all I have to say is that Dr. Plotnick has not been found guilty on any of these alleged cases. So all of you bringing lawsuits against this brilliant man, who is way ahead of his time, and was probably on the cusp of medical greatnes, let us see if you win your cases... Hopefully, the newspaper will give Dr. Plotnick the same headline attention when he wins all of the cases against him... Hopefully, the medical board will give him his license back soon with welcome arms... Good luck Dr P. (Remember, a few bad apples should not ruin the many dozens and dozens of barrels filled with good apples).

here are some fabulous statistics proving how wonderful Dr. Plotnick actually is: assuming he did in fact have these numbers: 1000 patients and 5 deaths, 0.005% of his patients died. At 3000 patients, that number becomes 0.001666666666 10 deaths from 1000 of his patients = 0.01% 10 deaths from 3000 of his patients = 0.003% Based on these numbers, Dr. Plotnick should actually get into the Medical Hall of Fame... Can you believe this wonderful doctor has suffered because of .01%-.0003% of his patients that unfortunately and sadly lost their lives. Unbelievable. I challenge any of you to refute the statistical numbers mentioned above as inaccurate. For you see, in math, the answer can be proven beyond all doubt.....

You should e-mail me Beautiful_grl468@yahoo.com I would love to hear more about your story someone! My mother was also a victim and I will stop at nothing to make sure that he never practices again someone wrote: <quoted text> This man killed my dad. and what your reading in the newspapers and online isnt true. He never once asked my dad about his history or did any tests or looked in his file. He just heard my dads symptoms and automatically said it was fibromayalgia, when a few other doctors who reviewed the case said it couldve been a number of things , that dr.plotnick didnt even check for first. and my dad didnt die from an over dose of drugs, he died from dr.plotnick giving him 2 different types of medicines that were illegal together. so if you say this man deserves a secound chance then your crazy. He killed 5 other people that are known. who knows how many other people that died because of him. He even gave my dad a drug that was just for people who are dying of cancer. you want to know why so many other people are supporting him? cause he was the only doctor that would give them these deadly drugs. He gave them stuff to make the pain go away. and didnt check their history to see if they were allergic or were taking any other drugs, and he didnt watch their drug history, and gave them early refils. Those medicines changed my dad, he would stay out in the garage all day, and he would start labeling everything including our dogs and doorknobs, he would start digging holes in his skin with sharp objects and he would fall asleep anywhere he was, he even stole from sears. He was never like this until he started the drugs cr plotnick gave him.My mom even called and told him what the drugs were doing to my dad and asked him to change his medicines or something to make him back to how he was. and he gave him another perscription behind her back. So yeah, he doesnt need any more chances, i think 5 is enough. I dont have a dad anymore because of him, and i hate him with everything ive got.

I've never been treated by Dr. Plotnick. I have however attended educational forums with him as a quest speaaker. Dr. Plotnick is very knowledgeable in his field of expertise and always uses his diagnostic skils in every patient suffering with chronic pain. The Standard of Care he constanstly and strictly adhered to as all physcians should do. I know that if any problems that arrive with treatment of his patients that it was the over use and abuse of the patient using the substance. The abuser or what I call the drug seeking prescription and part street addict are not only now seeing one doctor but several and go to great links to gain as much of any grade of narcotics to sell or trade up to get the all high they are looking for! First hand as a nurse I have seen what I believe to be several sides to this issue and in the end of it all any overdoses and medications that are used to sell for higher doses of street drugs or trade with team members they have circulating these medications amons't each other. These abusers steal from family and friends to buy street drugs to supplement their prescribed drugs. Dr. Plotnick tries very hard to be compassionate and really wants the majarity of his practice to live pain free for maybe the first time in there lives. I thin its sad that abuser ruins everyones lives by trying to get high vcerses pain relief. We as care givers try to give most people the benefit of the doubt and believe the patients when they say they are in pain we immediately try to identify the level and if chronic verses acute. We truly try to find just the right recipe that may improve their quality of life. Sometimes patients for the first time are living life mostly pain free for the first in their life. The abusers and non-compliant patients that always run out prior the appt date is usually overdosing daily and the abuser that sells his less potent narcotic for a one powerful one is what we need to work on. We could create a system where the stronger stage of narcotics would only be released by a wirelss cue fom the md's office and this could substantialy stop a lot of the abuse and misuse. The drug company could develop hopefully develop metered dose with the narcotic and have a tracker on the meter that sends out a text message to the pharmacy if the patient has exceeded the allowed dose. Start having all chronic pain medications be monitered by assigning a signif other or friend to budy up to secure patient doesn't accidently overdose. Some patients forget and re-dose some double dose and a buddy someone they trust completely could help monitor them.

I recently saw Dr. Plotnick in a public setting. He looks wonderful, happy, and well rested. I hope he re-applies for his license and starts to practice Medicine again. I believe now, he has learned from his mistakes. He deserves a second chance.

The dea is a self perpetuating cottage industry who throws out the baby with the bath water. They don't want anyone to take pain medication whether they need or qualify for it. BACK OFF DEA! Let the doctors handle medical problems, not the draconian dea.

I'm surprised (somewhat) to see there are still people posting here. I am happy to hear that Dr. P is doing wonderfully and a little shocked that the fact that he would have a newspaper story written because he got a job, lol...talk about sensationalism and poor journalism, I don't regret canceling my subscription to the Pilot over this one bit. Find peace, Dr. P, we know your heart is in the right place.

Find peace, Dr. P, we know your heart is in the right place. I wonder if you all would feel this same way, if you lost a child, a spouse, a mother or father, a brother or sister. It is so easy to be cavalier about the many victims of this man when they are not your loved ones. You also forget to mention how he filed for bankruptcy protection leaving six figures of debt to others to pay for, while he lives in a Mcmansion home and enjoys all of the luxeries life can offer. This man deserves to be punished for his negligent and unprofessional ways. He will never practice medicine again in Virginia. The question now will be how many lawsuits will actually go to trial where we can see this man on the stand. I promise you I will be there. I believe more than 10 lawsuits have been filed against him and his insurance company. Hopefully, they all will go to trial, and that should keep him busy for the next couple of years. His family should be very proud of him. It is not everyday that your name is turned into a verb.(You have been "plotnicked"....)

It was not his family that lost a loved one due to his careless and negligent manner of perscribing pain medicine. His bankruptcy allowed him to walk away from six figures of debt, so now he does not have to worry about that. And, as for being well rested... How hard is it to teach at ECPI... We are not talking about Harvard.... This man deserves all of the shame and disgrace he has brought upon himself. Nobody forced him to dispense perscriptions of dangerous narcotics to people. He brought this all upon himself. My one question is how can he show his face in public and not be so humiliated for bringing such shame to himself and his family. Can you imagine waking up each day knowing your name has been turned into a verb... PLOTNICKED.....

I think people have to take some responsibility for there own care. A patient has to keep in contact with his Doctor when having problem and reactions to medications. Many people have different response’s to meds and its their place to call the MD and let him/her know. If a patient goes behind the family's back and does something than it sure is not the Doctors fault. PATIENTS HAVE RESPONSIBILITYS TOO I am a RN myself for over 30 years and I know what go on in the medical world, the doctor got a railroad job by someone. I am truly sorry for the loss that these people suffered but to place all the blame on one person is just not fair. I can not say enough about PATIENTS RESPONSIBILITY FOR THERE OWN CARE.

This is nothing but a political witch hunt. Most doctors are even afraid to prescribe any kind of pain medication for suffering people.
Meanwhile you can take all of the over the counter non prescription pain killers you can take. The only problem is that most of these eat your internal organs away.
But wait, you won't be addicted when you die of a blown liver or kidney.

If anybody is still out there.. Can you explain to me why criminal charges have not been filed against this man. How has he been able to escape the law. I look forward to the day that he is led away to prison. Since, he has not suffered financially, by filing bankruptcy,(all of his debt was purged,) he should at least have his freedom taken away for violating the law. Am I wrong to think this way?

What cruel words you write. As a former patient of Dr. Plotnick, I know he helped so many patients, including me. He is a kind, caring physician who spent the time needed to examine each patient, advise the patient and answer all questions the patient had. He even took the time to talk to and educate family members. How many doctors do that? I hope he will always hold his head high in public, knowing what caring, experienced and genuine doctor he is. I, and many others, hope he will pursue medicine again and commense his help for those of us who suffer chronic pain. We are still here supporting you, Dr. P.(never forget that) Lisa wrote: <quoted text> Of course, "he looks wonderful, happy, and well rested"...
