Contractor vanishes; jilts dozens

well, every one including the home owners need to look at the economy before they start making judgements. backbay has at least 12 homes going at once, its a little to much to handel. Also when home owners are pushing an making rude comments about the company when really backbay does does so much for the home owners.

Back Bay built a beautiful home for my family. It was a pleasure working with them. At this hard time people need to realize what the economy has done to the housing market. Before people make assumptions they should try to learn the facts about the situation. Thank you Back Bay for building our dream home and we feel for you at this time.

The economy is not an excuse to over extend yourselves. If this contractor did not have the capital or financing to complete these homes, then he should never had started them. In this case they are not doing to much for those homeowners but taking their money and runing away!!! Really sad !!!

TO THE HAPPY HOMEOWNER - It's real easy for you to say "It was a pleasure working with them". You have your home. I wonder how you would feel if you lost thousands of dollars and then had no home and no where to go. We know the facts about the situation. He's a cheat and a liar. I hope he is caught before he destroys someone else's dream. Enjoy YOUR new home.

imagine yourself in the situation that you are out 300k and can't feed your family, because mike perry was busy building his dream home in pungo and colorado with everyone's deposit monies and his cool attorney has no comment!!!!!

This is really sad. One of my co-workers is a victim of Back Bay. She and her husband are angry and hurt. May God comfort those homeowners and contractors that are on the short end.

I have not vanished I am just going out of business like every other home builder,bank,auto makers and dealers,retailers in this country.You must be living on another planet if you dont know how bad it is for us small business owners.I still reside in VB I closed the office becuase I could not afford to keep it open.No one has been jilted I am working to get these folks in their home.
Mia for your info I could not get a Mortgage for house in pungo.I have lost a business it took me 10 years to build my home but I still have my family and friends who know I would never do anything to hurt anyone.

This is only the start of what the residential housing market will be like. As a shipper of concrete products in the Tidewater area, 2009 will be worse. Buyer Beware.

You wouldn't say that if they took your money and left you out in the cold... destroying your dreams! My husband and I have made sound financial decisions and saved our money to be able to afford a beautiful home. Now we are out a lot of money and cannot even put a contract on another home... were stuck!

I needed a couple of days to work on things in peace my wifes family has a home here.I will be back to Virginia Beach on monday but thank you for your concern of my where abouts.

I will just make one more comment and not come back to this unless I need to. hopefully you people understand that I have no reason to run or hide I am a model citizen i have not done anything illegal or unethical I just have a failed business quit making it personal.Becuase its not.My advice to all of you is to contact your congressman as i have and ask what he is doing to fix the housing CRISIS.foreclosures and unemployment are rising and values are plummeting.It does appear to be close to a bottom. I wasnt the first home builder to get in trouble and sure wont be the last.I am truly sorry this is happening all of you can take your problems and times it by a thousand to understand what Me and my family are going through. but we will get through it and be stronger for it.As I am working through this I will be in touch with my buyers and sub contractors I have several meetings and conference calls to take before I can provide any info.I just ask for a little time.Thank you

i am also at a loss with back bay and mike perry.
i moved from a moldy home to a brand new home(august 2008) that he and his company built to spare my children anymore suffering and illness due to mold, which is a killer! and he handed me a moldy home and there is no one to fix it, and who knows what will happen to my children, but lawsuits are being filed!

Mike Perry is the lowest of the low. He has lied to and cheated not only countless subcontractors out of thousands upon thousands of dollars, but entire families waiting to move into their homes they worked so hard for. These subs have families to feed and where is Mr. Perry? He's sitting fat and happy in Colorado (where he has another home)! Your GREED and deceit has caught up with you. What family & friends do you possibly have? You've cheated your own family members out of thousands of dollars as well. You're as crooked as it gets. Justice will be served and karma will follow you no matter how far you run!

why in steamboat, to relax and figure things out while the rest of us scramble to put our lives back together? and as for your attorney and his obvious hands in the pot....amazing! if you had any scruples left you would have handled this differently. as far as i know, you were not even licensed to build under shoreline holdings, INC when you started building my home!, or wait was it solid concepts,INC or wait was it shoreline holdings, LLC ....back bay genreal contractors is only a name not even a company....
did you do anything illegal? only you can live with yourself....you have done quite some damage, and my social work instincts are to help those who have been wrong by you....not the housing crunch....what a web...i contacted wavy news too and sent them the email i sent you....why don't you come back and face life?

Ram Rod, you are truly blind to reality plus you must not have been a recent customer of Back Bay's!!! I am sure when Back Bay was charging exorbinent sale prices years ago, they didn't tend to screw many people. However, homeowners remember what you take from them yesterday, not what you gave to them 4 years ago! If people said rude comments its because Back Bay never returned your calls!! That is only one of many rude things they did and don't even get me started on LeeAnn who always talked to you like you were a child!!
