I am so excited about this complex. I plan to be at as many events as possible. My daughter traveled to charlotte to the ciaa. which was great, however to have it here in our home town would be wonderful. I only wish I could be at the opening this evening.
Congrats

Why wasn't an aquatic center planned as well? Right now Hampton Schools pay a ridiculous amount to use HU facilities at odd ball hours. It would have been a great joint venture and put a needed olympic quality pool facility in reach for athletes.

An aquatic center would have more appropriate, since the thing was built on wetlands. Shame on you, Hampton!

Why don't you ask Boo? Maybe there were more regulations and permit hassles, not to mention the costs, of putting in a regulation size pool for events. Maybe someday the place can be expanded upon to include a pool. But what Boo has built now is a great beginning! And he didn't need to build it on the backs of the Hampton homeowners, like the power plant and Bass Pro.

I am really happy this place got built and so quickly. We have Hoop Magic in Northern Virginia and it is also a very nice facility and from what I have read the Boo Williams Sportsplex is even better. Good luck with it Mr. Williams and for the haters out there please try to keep your hate to yourselfs on this one.

Thank you Mr. Williams for opening this facility. Hopefully this will entice the local young people to stay off the streets.

Liar and a cheat...

They built that monstrous structure in my back yard, I went to every cith meeting to fight it...Mr. Williams response was its for the kids why oppose it.

We were told that a maximium of 40 people at any given time on any court....so I posed the question why have seating for 4,000 + people.

Its a sad day when politicians and business men become cohorts.

Now CIAA Tournies..... WTF gives

I love that they filled all of that marsh land so my house will be more prone to flooding.

Sad day indeed for the City of Hampton

I agree on the wetlands issue. I am happy for the kids that can use this facility. WISC in williamsburg is like this but for soccer/hockey. It's a great place and they also do camps etc.

Oh, please. No one lied or cheated to you. Haven't you ever been to basketball games? There may be courts enough for 40 players to be playing at the same time and room for 4,000 spectators at the events. This is a great new facility for the children of the entire area. Embrace it already and quit whining. You must not have any children or yours must be grown for you to be so bitter about something that is obviously such a positive for the entire area.

Mr. Williams deserves a hearty pat on the back for providing this area with a quality sports complex. I wish I could say that I am surprised by the remarks of the "not in my backyard-ers" but I'm not. The potential for flooding is due to the proximety of your home to water, not the sports complex. Can we just go ahead and acknowledge that you dont like the traffic impact either? Or how about "those kids" who will use the facility? Mr. Williams was doing great things for the youth in our community long before he had the resources and reputation to bring a community together on such a project. I admire him for his efforts not only on the court but off. He is a fine example of a true citizen of Hampton.

Obviously your a well educated individual and completly understand the difference between arable absorbtion and sheer run off.

Lets discuss topomaps or the elevation of the lot that was used for Boo Williams... In my neighborhood our mean elevation is 8' above sea level, on the lot that was used for Boo Williams was also 8' above sea level, but to make code they had to fill the land to a minimum of 10'. The ctuy of hampton will not let me fill my land to 10' so now I will get flooded.

Do us all a fovor and reserch wetland impacts before you spew your propaganda.

Do not get me wrong I am glad its for the kids, but it IS NOT A COMMUNITY CENTER, it is a place of PROFIT. Why elese would Mr. Williams spend 13 million dollars... for the kids I think not...its for the rights of the other tourneys....

It will not be open to ordinary citizens. You have to be a sanctioned tema member. Not any kid can walk off of the street to use the facility

There were better places to put this facility but they did not choose those areas.

Because Esther Williams did not come to town with the money to do this, Boo Williams did. Be thankful for the multi uses already included.

I am glad the cemter is open and as far as any being able to walk in, you may be right. However, many parents have their children in arganized sports and many of them such as AAU will be using the facility for tournaments. As far as the location, u may be right. The fact that the location is right down the street from the colosium and the town center (or whatever they are calling it) where the old mall used to be was probably a plus for city officials knowing that the facility will be bringing in mant out of towners for tournaments. None the less is a positive thing and if you decide to sell your home it's a selling point for families with children, plus think on the bright side the upkeep of the roads and landscaping in your area will probably be better.

Congrats to Mr. Williams on his new facility. I can't wait to see the inside and enjoy some AAU games this year.
