Frank, I never said that you yourself were a racist or made racist remarks. I said majority of those who have quoted Darwin in their post are usually doing so for their racist rantings. Secondly I didn't say the man convicted was a semi-invalid I said DARWIN was. Darwin in fact was a semi-invalid and married his cousin. Something a Darwin follower should know. Darwin makes no sense, he was a crack pot.

I see. So it's ok for you to generalize, and make prejudgements about others based on that person agreeing with a particular point of view that you don't believe. But I cannot nit pick...interesting. My use of the phrase keeping it real was a direct quote of Ernesto, to whom I originally responded. Curiously you didn't respond to there quote but infact, you attacking my stance was anathema to defending him..more interesting.
You know neither my race nor gender yet you assumed you did, along with assuming because I believe in a particular scientific thesis that I am a "follower" of someone. Darwin's theorys were bastardized and used by Spencer, Malthus, de Gobineau and Galton, from which the term Social Darwinism came into being and also eugenics. Darwin did not subscribe to those theories but he is erroneously credited with them. He did in fact marry his cousin, which was fairly common in the 1800's, you may know some of this if you decided to obtain all facts. So I guess you got me there. I joined this little Topix forum for a chance of stimulating discussion but I see that there is a really small chance of that happening. So I'm out of this collection of sanctimonious closed mindedness.
Especially with someone who spews "Know Jesus... sheesh" but sleeps with a 9 under her pillow.

Cut it right there, please. There needn't be any more animosity. It was a simple misunderstanding in the first place.

Just because someone speaks about Darwin's survival of the fittest theory does not mean they believe everything Darwin said (although you might... I'm not sure).

Survival of the fittest is a varid theory today in explaining how some species flourish while others die away. It has nothing to do with creationism versus evolution (although it does play a part).

Also, it would help everyone out if you proof-read your post for the sake of clarity. You might end up pissing someone off without the intention.

Please end the shouting back and forth and just discuss the topic like humans. Try not to go off topic.

Well you see Mike, I was not going for a personal attack. He quoted Darwin and I gave my opinion on Darwin. For some reason he took it personally and felt the need to defend himself rather than his stance. Why he is so upset is beyond me. Oh and by the way, Charles Darwin is often credit with coining the phrase "the survival of the fittest", however such attribution is not really correct. The actual term survival of the fittest was actually attributed by Darwin himself to another source:
"The expression often used by Mr. Herbert Spencer of the Survival of the Fittest is more accurate, and is sometimes equally convenient" Just a tid bit :O) but nevertheless I certainly didn't set out to piss anyone off, just have a nice healthy debate. For some reason he took it to heart. lol Anyway have a wonderful weekend!

It's a fact. Watch the Discovery channel or Animal planet. The fittest are the ones who earn the right to pass their genetic code to the next generation, thereby improving the chances of survival of their species.
