What a stupid thing to do, leave a gun in your car. These are the people they are hiring today to be cops.

The officer had been working since 4 am., worked all day, and didn't get to Virginia Beach (a 4 hr trip) until 10:30 PM. You don't know the officer or his circumstances. So don't throw stones until you have done the job. Every officer reading this has done the same thing at one time.

Listen hear sonny, don't lecture me. I was cop for 25 years. Do you know how many stolen cars I investigated during that time? Do you know how many larceny from vehicle reports I investigated? Thousands!! It was still a stupid thing to do and now somebody may get robbed or killed with his gun.

A Glock Model 22 is a .40 Caliber Pistol. Any cop that leaves a cannon like that lying around unsecure should be charged for the crimes committed with it when it gets stolen. There is no excuse.

I don't give the officer much credit for having left his gun in the car in the first place. Why did he have it with him to begin with if all he was going to do is leave it in his car? It certainly wouldn't have been of much help in the house at 3:30 if say the same person who broke into his car decided to burglarize the house instead. If you are going to own a gun for defense, whether private citizen or off duty officer, KEEP THE FRIGGEN THING WITH YOU!!! I'm sure the officer feels horrible, he'll feel even worse if indeed a crime is committed with his gun. He'll have the comfort of knowing that through his negligence he facilitated the crime. If her were on my force I'd make him walk around with his gun duct taped in his hand 24/7 for a month. Maybe then he'd learn to keep his weapon secured on his person at all times! Fool.
