I quess you all know why these things are happening. Young people today have no respect for humans let alone property. Parents are not allowed to punish the kids, and the courts just slap their hands......I say find who did it and let their parents pay for the damage and the overtime to step of partrols. Laws are a joke to these kids today.

To Mad Columbus - Don't know about the kids and parents that you have as neighbors but in my house my daughter is taught the meaning of respect for folks and their property. In my opinion at least, a parent is allowed at any time and any place to punish and disipline their children. It is NOT that parents are not allowed to punish it is more that they dismiss the responsibility.
Agreed, the lack of disipline and punishment is folllowed by lack of respect. The courts generally are not much help either. As you stated, a slap and done. The courts, at a minimum, should have the kids pay for restitution in any damages made. If that takes a month or two or three so be it, a lesson learned hopefully.
I do not exclude my daughter from this, if she were to do the crime she had better be willing to do what is right to make restitution.

$1500.00 for a back window?????? Thats a bunch of money, I'll bet there was more damage than just the window or someone is overstating the cost.

Of course, the other possibility is that the reporter is guilty of misquotation.

When they catch these kids don't waste time putting them in juvie, just beat the beJesus out of them. It's the only way they will truly learn.

Again, I'm sure their parents had no idea where they were and what they were doing. But, no, lets don't blame them.

I see the pumpkin survived with little damage.

This is a perfect example of worthless kids with time on their hands, given where they live and unappreciative of that fact.
What makes these kids any different from kids in Linden doing to same thing, who do not have the opportunities New Albany kids have handed to them?
In my book, it makes them worse-because they have had the world handed to them...I hope they do go to juvi detention.
But they won't. Their parents will hire the best attorney in town and get them off scott-free by making restitution.
I used to work in juvi corrections-and very rarely did I see any upper middle class kids from the suburbs.

Depending on the year, make, and model of car, as well as any extras the original backglass may have had,(and if it were replaced with OEM glass instead of OEE glass), it very well could cost that much. Hopefully the owner had full coverage insurance with a low deductible. Just like a power steering pump or other car parts prices vary depending on the vehicle, the cost of glass can vary as well.

Maybe the kids were NOT from New Albany at all. Could just be jealous kids from a less affluent area wanting to wreak havoc because they can.

How is that going to help the kids? The kids/children/teens should have to pay for the damage that has been done.

New Albany may have a gang in its mist. oooooohhooooo.....scarrrry.

Come on now - you can't mean there are drugs & gangs in New Albany. Shame on you! That stuff only goes on in the ghetto & of course they are all black. Wow now don't ruin a lot of people's day by scaring them like that.

Maybe all three crimes aren't connected? MAybe the kids have nothing better to do because they live in a rich white suburbia where if you don't play tennis or aren't a member to the country club and have a whole wardrobe of classy expensive clothing you can't fit in? Maybe you people should think before you start spouting off your white collar elitest ideals and parenting tips on a online forum.

Maybe you shouldn't take yourself so serious...these are OPINIONS based on experience, knowledge and beliefs which may differ from yours. Take off your rose colored glasses, lower your nose and talk to people or go hug a tree, whatever that thing is you do. These kids or whoever did this needs to be caught, tried and caned in public if found guilty. Then they need to clean their mess and pay restitution for the man hours it will take to find them.

Daily Horoscope for December 31

Gemini

You'll need every ounce of patience today because even the best-laid plans could go up in smoke under the Full Moon lunar eclipse. It seems that certain people are doing their best to throw spanners in the works, and the more annoyed you become the more they'll goad you still further. If there's dissent in the ranks about how to spend New Year's Eve, you may decide to go your own sweet way and prove that you're an individual in your own right. But try not to let any bad feelings mar the celebrations. Have a fantastic night!
