Police are like bandaids. They don't prevent anything, they just temporarily fix it when it breaks. And they don't stick around too long. Hides what happens, stops what oousses, and makes you think you are better until you can get to the real person to fix it.

They never seem to think they do anything wrong or they don't like any public criticism. Really the criticism is only people wanting them to take notice of things that need attention. I guess if you have that swelled up attitude, nothing can penetrate and you're gonna do it your way or the highway. Head all these great things the new chief was going to do. All I've see was a few more seatbelt tickets. lol

They are there for security. The officers are not on duty, they are working for AGC who hired them because an employee made threats.

They are using the city police cars to do private work and getting paid for it? How much do they contribute to the city coffers for use of the vehicle?????? Come on Mayer, we can't afford to pay for a plant's security in these times of crunch.

They use their police cars for all their extra security details and also for grocery shopping, and every other thing as well in some cases its the families second car. Detectives I can see needing their cars for late night call outs and such but not patrol. I say pick you cars up at the Department.

I can't help but wonder,if a man has made up his mind that he's going to come back and shoot up an establishment,,,what good will two policemen in the parking lot really do? I suppose while they take the first two shots,,,it'll give the employees a brief moment to find a snack machine to hide behind.Of course most all of your mad-men these days carry firepower that'll penetrate the average snack-machine.And if anyone knows, what does it cost an hour to hire off-duty policemen for private security purposes?

Watch out wrote: How about just go get him and throw his or her butt in jail? The fact that they didn't seems to indicate that no direct threats were made.If the police we're really expecting an armed assault, they would have been waiting with more than a two cruiser compliment,,,as well as hunted him down from the other end.Two officers eating Big Macs in the parking lot only means that establishment was concerned about a bad attitude. And for insurance protocol purposes, made a presentation of policemen on the lot.I would suspect anyway.

Ok.For that two-hundred and sixty dollars an hour,is it possible to hire police officers with tunnel vision to run security on private field parties? You know, the kind who only sees assaults, robberies, murders and rapes,,,but stay oblivious to whatever else you may want them to stay oblivious to?

Here's a reason people have trouble witht he police department. side jobs using police cars. and let us not forget the church thing out by severns valley. even if it is a member directing, it's still a city police car. clean your deparmtnet up. quit taking your wife to the grocery store in your cruiser. use your gas and not the city's.

It is a perk of the job. It is no different then having a company car. No one ever complains about the hundreds of people driving their company cars but you hear about the police driving theirs all the time. It's a perk for a low paying shitty job.

A company car if a for profit outfit. A cop car is TAXPAYER funded. Shitty job? No one is forcing them to do it. You knew when you got the first check what it was going to be. Come off the whining. It's not becoming.

Low paying shitty job? You wasn't made to join and your pay is way higher than a private in the army starting out. My taxes continue to climb while local government employees abuse privilidges. Bus drivers grocery shopping in school busses, social workers using cars for personal gain, and yes even the police. This is wrong! I drive my vehicle to do my job why can't you? This is one reason the government is broke. It's time local government took away all this waste of gas and the wear and tear of unnecessary miles on government vehicles. It would be better to give them a 5% raise rather than let them rack up $300.00 a month each on family fuel at taxpayer expense. Plus the 5% raise is taxable and the government egt's some of that back. Just way too much abuse.
