I'm going to head for a little while too. Saw my first hummingbird yesterday, so I'm going to put up the other three feeders. Glad they finally showed up. I was getting concerned about where they were this year. They're WAY late at my place....
Everyone have a great day.

I have seen several Hummingbirds this year. I don't have up any Hummingbird feeders. They seem to really like my bright Fucia colored 4 O'clock flowers and purple Butterfly bushes. Those Four O'clock flowers are easy to grow, heat restient and seed & reseed themselves all summer. Then they are up again on their own every Spring.

This is one of it's derogatory methods of attempting to mimmic me (Hempburn-humpaburn),and thinks it irrates me. What it does not realize is I know it is a total idiot, therefore these attempts are wasted. You can't really blame a true idiot for stupidity so I ignore it.

<quoted text>Awakened one morning to the sound of a Bluebird crashing into my window. When I went out and picked the bird up, it's mate flew over and landed in my hand next to it. It stayed in my hand for a few minutes until I laid the dead bird on the hood of my truck, and then stayed with it(1 hour) until a proper grieving time had elapsed, I suppose.
Somewhat shocked there was no reply to this post about a (wild) birds display of love, compassion, and grief for it's mate, all the while, standing in my hand.

Hi Hempburn, welcome back. Hope you enjoyed your trip, but you are so right, there is no place like home and your own bed. The Mods for this thread have really been working overtime removing the undesirable posts. The thread is almost like it use to be. Just good people talking about what is going on in their world and the world outside it. That bunch sure hates my earhtquake reports and keep saying they are removed but I just looked and there they are like always. lol

I seen this story about a bear to add to the one I posted for you where the bear went into Sears. lol

Bears trash home in upstate NY's Bearsville

BEARSVILLE, N.Y.(AP) The upstate New York hamlet of Bearsville is living up to its name.
The Times-Herald Record of Middletown reports ( http://bit.ly/QiLlxP ) that a mother bear and her cubs trashed a family's home in Bearsville several times earlier this month.

The Knowles family arrived at their home on July 13 to find that their kitchen had been ransacked by bears. They later went out for dinner, and upon returning they found the house trashed all over again.

They cleaned up the mess and went out again the next day. They returned in the evening to find the home trashed yet again by the bears.

State wildlife specialists decided the mother bear was now a nuisance and would have to be killed.

They fired two shots at the bear but missed.
She and her cubs haven't been back since then.

Then there was this one. Don't know which I would rather have invade my space. They are both frightening I am sure.

I have some bills to pay and groceries to buy before we get storms this afternoon so I will say goodbye for now, hope you all have a terrific Thursday and be back later. I will leave you with the dog stories that I seen yesterday for AW and all the dog lovers out there.

Puppies rescued from drainpipe after mother is killed

Animal rescue can be as heartbreaking as it is uplifting, and no more so than the saga of Gaia, a dog abandoned in central California, and her three puppies. Eldad Hagar of Hope for Paws took on the mission, complicated by Gaia's being hit by a car and left to die by the side of a road. Desperate enough to use the dead dog's carcass to try to lure the trio out of their hiding place in a culvert connected to a deep well, Hagar eventually made the rescue of the terrified pups and watching the little ones learning to play with their first toys is as heart-melting an image as you'll find.[Source]

Shelter dog who fell out of truck onto I-95 found alive 11 days later (VIDEO)

A dog who was thrown onto I-95 in Florida after his crate fell off an animal control truck nearly two weeks ago has been found alive.

"Tails and tongues are wagging in Flagler County today," anchorman Jim Payne said at the top of a report on Orlando's WESH-TV.

Rondo, a Labrador mix, and another dog were being transported from a Jacksonville Adopt-a-Thon in the back of an animal control pickup heading southbound in St. Augustine, Fla., on July 13 when their cage accidentally opened. Rondo fell out of the crate and took off, animal control officials said. The pooch was spotted by a passing motorist on Tuesday near the same stretch of highway, albeit on the northbound side.

He has been returned to the Flagler Humane Society, where officials are still trying to determine how Rondo survived 11 days on the lam.
"He's the first dog ever to be happy to come back," one worker at the shelter told WESH.

For the Cat lovers too!

Never underestimate a determined cat. The Oliphant family of Bedford, N.H., thought their cat Wollie was gone for good after he escaped from his carrier while leaving a shelter where he had just been fixed and vaccinated. The Oliphants and volunteers spent two days trying to find Wollie, but eventually called off the search. Days later, Barbara Oliphant saw a black cat crossing a road leading up to her house and immediately knew it was Wollie. The feline had made a six-mile trek from the shelter where he escaped to get back to his home. "I felt it was just a miracle," Oliphant said. "If he can find me against all the odds, then I am meant to have this cat in our home and in our lives.[Source]

And no idea who will be banned next. After all the foul stuff you and yours do on Topix it might be you.
There hasn't been a foul mouthed thing out of Ugly girl or I. Nor have our posts been removed. Can't say the same, though, can you? What is being removed IS SPAM. That INCLUDES the earthquake reports, poems about children, and other troll posts. If you would like to get this post corrected, start talking about the topic. It's apparent you can't do anything like that.
