Time debate just keeps ticking on

The "seesaw six." That's what retired Indiana University economist Morton Marcus calls the six counties that got approval to switch from the Eastern to Central time zones, and, less than five months after the ...

This is what you get when the feds get into the act. We were in the central time zone for years then the feds moved in and split the state. We had a system that didn't involve daylight savings time and the rest of the world had a problem with it. We adopted daylight savings time and the Feds screwed things up again. Now we will have sunset at 10 P.M. in the summer. What have the feds done right lately?

The ideal situation would be the world all on the same time zone. How we deal with time would change and it would make the idea of time zones unnecessary. For instance dawn may be at 3:00 here and 7:00 in California. Our kids would start school at 6:00 and in California they would start school at 10:00. People would change the way their business operate based on when they want to and not the time zone. If you called some one in a different county, a different state, a different country, you could ask them what time does your business open. If they said 10:00 it would be the same as your 10:00.

I don't think we could get that done though. It would be kind of like trying to convert to the metric system.

It seems to me that the problem in Indiana is not changing the clocks to DST, but that we are not on the East coast where the sun rises an hour earlier than in Indiana. If we were in the Central time zone, when we turn our clocks forward, we would not be getting up in the dark.I don't think Hoosiers should be whining about taking a little time to change their clocks to conform to the rest of the country, but should be voting to change to the more appropriate Central time zone. Just my opinion.

I do not like the term "whining" about the time change. It is not whining!! I now go to work in the dark and go to bed in the daylight. We were not allowed to vote on our preferance which is our RIGHT. So forget the "whining", just give us a right to vote on it.

Why should any of us change clocks? It's just plain stupid.
